After the premiere of this song as a single, I came right back here, because I really like this version better, I don't know if this makes any sense, but I think it has more "muscle" (and better thom vocals)

I would NOT be surprised if we saw this again. It’s so similar to the vibe they portrayed with The Smile that I think it would be a shoe-in for their second LP. :)

Yes. I was there at this show, I was very lucky, it was so special. Immediatly after the song finish I've think that it would be a nice direction for their next LP, if there will be one. After the more classic A Moon Shaped Pool, i would like to listen more of their experimental side for at least one time more - kill me but I really really apprecciate TKOL. Not that I complain about AMSP, not really, it's really a good job at song crafting . But I think thay have more sound palette to explore. And as they're are immensly gifted it will be very nice to be "shocked" one time more. But I'm not complaing at all. They're living legends.

What...what did they?? Is this that lovely song, demoed by an exhausted, road-mad Thom at a soundcheck in 1998, while Jonny and the rest of the band sit around the stage around him, reading books and just generally bored, before suddenly getting inspired about halfway through and come slowly, gracefully, sliding in behind his acoustic and adding rhythm and countermelody? A simple song, that nonetheless needed very little to grab you and shake you, move you into the singer's troubled but yearning headspace?? I don't...I don't think I recognize it. I know I'm sounding like one of those "I don't like anything past OKC" comment cliches here (I actually love the majority of it), but I have to say I think they fell into the Radiohead "avoid any broad or swelling arrangements at all costs" trap here. They overcooked the goose.

I dig what you're saying, and I love some of Pawel's other mixes, my problem with his "FMA" is that what he turned into a "chorus", seems clearly meant to be a "break" (as we are cut into the song in the middle)" and the exact repetition of notes that are essentially intended to be a solo section I think drags it (he plays the parts himself, btw, in case you didn't know)
@HQBacon

I just think it's a repeating pattern with them, where there are certain songs that come out fully formed and brilliant, but they hesitate and overthink and end up overcooking it (remember that 2002 "Lift"??). There ARE some examples of where a song hadn't quite been figured out yet, or one of the members stumbled upon something that made a later version far more effective. But hey, an opinion's an opinion. I also preferred the original versions of Nude/Big Ideas, Videotape, etc
@timothylove9724

Honestly I agree, I feel like the track has gotten away from the simplicity of the original that wasn't lost on the Kid Amnesia version. I do still like this version quite a bit I'd just be ok with it being a one off or it turning into a different song.

You must be listening to somewhat subpar audio recordings. Although this one is nicely visually recorded, this is of course not quite exactly how it would sound. The extensive professionally recorded A Moon Shaped Pool live recordings are proof of how incredible the overall live sound is. Perhaps even getting better, in many cases.
