My God it's incredible, but with that weight imagine a small child having a meltdown and throwing Toby at a very large $10K flat screen TV. Yeah the size scale seems off, just too tall. But it's amazing how Toby over the many variations of Thomas toys is a strange survivor who seems to always remain the same box format. It's weird how his face is almost classic as well. So maybe Mattle are learning not to tinker with the core DNA structure of these classic characters. I'm yet to find any of this is store. I notice all the metal engine stock is basically empty peg.

I went back to the same Big W 2 weeks later and all the new push along stock was gone - clearly people are looking for the new toys and word spreads fast.

@@XtremeTrainz Just on weight I think one of the heaviest characters in the die cast Thomas toys is Take Along Arthur. The early version of Duck was also quite heavy. As for finding new stock I bet it plays out like the last few years. The masses of stock will appear in January. I could lay money on this. The Mattel supply chain is a very broken and mysterious animal.

@@XtremeTrainz Now just over half a year has passed, I say to myself, what Push Along stock. This is the stock line that's been decimated, sad because it's a toy line that has a linage going back to the Take Along / Take N Play stuff.

Push-along AEG Toby baffles me. He’s taller than most of the other push-alongs, even taller than regular Plarail, and yet is so tiny in length. It’s kinda just the Hornby Toby, but it’s a push-along.

Similar to how Push Along Hiro’s model is on a bit of the small side because they were trying to keep his proportions accurate to the show, I imagine it was a similar case to Toby here. They wanted to keep his shape as accurate as possible, but they had to then over-scale him as a result. It doesn’t ruin the model in the slightest for me (it even harkens back a bit to his model series scaling) but it’s definitely an interesting point about the model. Although if you really want a heavy model, the original Take Along model definitely has him beat. Those things were like bricks. Heck, he’s not even the biggest/heaviest in the current range. Darcy is certainly the biggest, while Farona and Frederico feel noticeably heavier than Toby, comparing them all in all. Anyways, great review!

I’m very happy that the fisher price team was able to pull this off. I’m sure getting as much as is there was a hard sell.

Toby is huge!!! He is bigger than Thomas in the show but I'm not sure how much bigger. I would love to pick Toby up! I hope I can find him at a store neer me. Amazing review! Hope you have a great day!

The AEG Push Along engines are in my opinion, just such great little toys. It’s sad they didn’t put this much effort when the CGI show was airing. The details that go into them are great. I was blown away at the details and weight of Toby. I do think it’s unfortunate that Mattel have inconsistencies, some engines have back buffer detailing while others don’t. Overall, Toby is a great.

Push Along AEG Toby is brilliantly a must-get. He's hefty, and oddly taller than the steamers. I find it jarring, how lacking distribution from Mattel has been in Summer/Autumn, but its nice to acknowledge that they're shipping more items to UK for January/February 2024 (The three Motorized talking engines, Motorized Toby and Push Along Edward) Strange that UK has the Motorized versions of Whiff and Salty only, but fewer countries don't even have the red dockyard diesel shunter.
