I love this record as much as I did the first time I heard it. Nothing else like it. So many classics. Grateful to have seen him a few times. The best versions of this album have The Wreck of the Fairchild on them. Plus the original version of Radio Silence. That vocoder.

Absolute classic album. First heard Dolby on a little radio station in Bethesda Maryland USA (WHFS) back in 83. The quality and depth of the New Wave Music of the early 80s is unsurpassable. He also produced an album or two by Prefab Sprout, one of my favorite groups of all time!😏

It was my very first cd I bought in 1984, I felt so cool in Detroit that no one had a cd yet including my family and friends... Simple thoughts for a simple time, always stuck in the 80's! Love Dolby!

It’s unfortunate that Dolby is only known here in the US for “She Blinded Me with Science” I discovered this album about 10 years ago and couldn’t believe how solid it is. “One of Our Submarines” is downright brilliant.

@@electroniccafemusic yeah Butlins used to run an Electric Dreams weekender in December every year but they stopped that weekender few years ago sadly, saw some great bands inc Blancmange Human League,OMD, Marc Almond, Marsheaux Heaven 17 amongst some others

Lovely review guys as always.. I only acquired this album a couple of years ago , Weirdly at an op shop , though I'd known of it and the singles back in the day, so rediscovered it, and really got into it. My favourite track is definitely 'Cloudburst at Shingle Street'

Another classic album indeed. I bought the 12" of 'Windpower' on release and then the album. This was a later edition containing 'She Blinded Me With Science'. The album was reissued on CD in 2009. It contained the original album plus singles, b-sides demos and live DVD. Definitely worth trying to get a copy if you like CDs. I'm really enjoying these classic album reviews. However by linking it to forty years it means that you have missed out on many classic albums eg Vienna, Rage In Eden, Visage, Dare, Metamatic, etc.

Really getting into these 40th anniversary videos but making me feel old! Have a vague recollection that Richard Skinner used the intro to Europa and the Pirate Twins for his Saturday Radio One show in the early 80s. Do I remember correctly...?

Just as a matter of interest you guys ever hear Lucifer's Friend by Vision 1982, whatever happened to them, thought they were gonna be huge, but disappeared, and what about Ministry's first album, with Sympathy 1983,superb album, then they changed direction. Also Children of the Night - Nash the Slash first saw him supporting Gary Numan back in 1980. one of my favourite gigs was in Sheffield City Hall watching Kajagoogoo supporting Fashion. what a band Fashion were at that time, again so much unfulfilled potential, same as Robert Marlow - the Peter Pan Effect, The Mobiles too, so much promise. But my most fave was Fad Gadget - mute records took a lot of money from me in the 80s :))
