I'm not into the idea of permanently "canceling" someone because I believe that people can change. Same reason that I'm largely against the prison system; we don't value rehabilitation in this country, or at least not nearly as much as we value punishment. That said, Thomas Middleditch hasn't made any public statement about his assault allegations... I'm surprised (a little) that Colbert let that slide without even acknowledging it, or even that he was booked on the show.

I agree w this sentiment. I think the idea of cancel culture is pretty over the top, that like as a collective society we have all agreed to boycott this person. You can make the personal choice to consume their content or not. I like Colbert so was surprised to see TM on the show cause I've stopped rewatching Silicon Valley cause of the gross allegations. I was hoping to see more of the comments saying this haha

I like Middleditch's greeting to Colbert. A bow. That's what I prefer, too. Ever since the beginning of the pandemic, it became obvious that shaking hands was a bad idea. I thought about it a little deeper. Why did shaking hands ever become popular in this culture? What do other cultures do, especially those that don't make contact? I realized that bowing would be a better greeting than shaking hands, during the pandemic and forever after.

I’m so confused as to why people have completely dismissed Thomas based on such vague allegations. Has anyone actually looked into what he’s been accused of, or does everyone just read “sexual misconduct” and assume the worst? He was accused of “groping” someone at a night club and being annoying with his advances. He later messaged the woman who accused him, and said he was ashamed he had made her feel uncomfortable. This also all occurred in a Hollywood night club, where it’s safe to assume every person involved was drunk or on drugs. Even if the allegations were 100% true, what he did may have been inappropriate, but nothing worth losing his entire life and career over. He has apologized to the woman personally, and is now trying to move on with his life. Do you all really require someone to make a public statement every time they make a stupid mistake? Why is that anyone else’s business besides the people involved? Online culture is getting creepier and more cult like by the minute.

I also think the only person to judge and criticize him is the girl that made the allegation, it’s a private issue, it’s not about his fans, we shouldn’t be so involved, I think they should deal with it behind the scenes. I used to think this way but I also think that if he acknowledged it, it’ll be blown way out of proportion, and bring more attention to it and we shouldn’t be the one to accept or forgive his apology, it’s not about us, I hope he made peace with the girl

Just coming to know about his allegations. Silicon Valley is an all timer for me and I'm well aware of Alice's accusations against TJ's behaviour and others ignoring it (enabling it) on set. We all know about TJ being a shitbag but it did bother me when the realisation hit me that seemingly lovely folks like Kumail, Zack, Thomas could be at fault for being unbothered and ignorant towards their dear co-stars. This, however, is a confirmation. Of course, it's not red flagging Thomas altogether, but now I know that he's definitely got a problematic persona. And that's bad enough. If he's done bad things, he should officially address them, own his mistakes, and apologise.
@tracyisbest

......and maybe he's done that. Just not to YOU. Doesn't have to do that publicly. Just deal with the fact that you don't need to know what goes on in all aspects of actors lives. I have been on a Middleditch binge lately after finishing Silicon Valley. Watched all of his tv interviews and Middleditch & Schwartz specials and this interview he was definitely...different. Maybe the crowd was tense with whatever happened. Maybe he was just being extra careful with his words but this one wasn't as funny or charming as his past ones. I still think he is one of the best improv guys ever. and all of this SA scandal stuff, no offense, but theres so much going into that stuff that if it wasnt created into a lawsuit, maybe it wasn't as big as some people are making it out to be. or maybe it was actually just a huge misunderstanding and the public isn't even being given all of the details. he seems physically and mentally changed from all of the crap that has been going on so I think its fair to give a "second chance". media is so cutthroat with people they would rather see them burn at the stake than actually change for the better.

It is videos like this that make me feel suicidal. Like Thomas Middledictch I was born in Canada I spent 25 years in Immigration Limbo, against my will, despite being legally married to a US Citizen. I was forced to leave in 2018 because I could no longer survive. Went to Latin America; and was getting my lilfe back together until the stupid pandemic and lockdown hit in 2020. Sent to a Toronto where I ended up homeless and where I still am. I want to be in a place where I can make income and someone values my skills & talents. Maybe I should work my way up to commit suicide. My ancestors are American; and I never had a pathway. I am a Film School Graduate and never had a pathway to get into the industry. Maybe I should get out of this lifetime that only balues certain souls and traps & destroys others

@@novatornado5576 Well Thank you. I appreciate that. Procuring income would help a lot. I normally would not write a post likr above. I am happy for Thomas Middleditch, and as a writer I have an idea for a story for him, but it is like a knife to the gut when I see people acheive something I was never able to. I was in the US for 25 years; land of my amcestors, and never got a Greem Card thanks to a Government error. I would not be homeless if not for that error. It had haf a continuously nasty effect on my life.

@benr3799
@benr3799 2 жыл бұрын
Shame on you for A) boiling a human down to one word, B) pretending his (alleged?) actions are indicative of multiple other instances of assault, and C) Thinking Colbert chooses who he is interviewing. Also D) you’re probably an abuser too then, it takes one to know one right? E) I’m not on TM’s side. I don’t know the full story. But unless he’s a monster that was out to harm others (which I doubt), why should you care about his actions at a club, regardless of how appropriate? How does that or will that impact your life? I might agree that he did something inappropriate, but millions of people do inappropriate things every day. I may agree that they all did inappropriate things, but why on EARTH would I ever care? Unless I can talk to them and persuade them to change their minds, there’s literally no point in trying. Idk, your comment is BIZARRE. Imagine someone yelled “SLUT” at you on the street. It may be true, but it still would be bizarre for them to just randomly shout that out. I’m not saying you are, I’m just saying your single-word comment leaves me in awe of the brain that went into penning it. You truly made a helpful and insightful addition to the world with this :)

While bitcoin’s wild price movements might seem random < they are often driven by the same fundamental catalysts as in the traditional markets. Some claim bitcoin is impervious to shocks that affect global finance; it’s a hedge against things like inflation and a sure bet against tides of uncertainty. Moves within traditional finance can boost or burn bitcoin’s price because they determine how easy it is for financial epicenters like Wall Street to invest in bitcoin..We were already on shaky footing with historically low volume and almost pure whale pumps, narrowly avoiding a long-term bear market. This is the worst possible time in history to invest as so many don't back up their crypto assets. More emphasis should be put into day trading as it is less affected by the unpredictable nature of the market. I have made over 11 btc with 2.1 btc from day trading with Leonard Shen, Signal in few weeks, this is one of the best medium to backup your assets incase it goes bearish.
