The defensive mid Doesn't cover the half and wide spaces behind the wingbacks, he drops into defence and one of the centrebacks will move across to tackle, if the defensive mid moves wide he is no longer screening the 2 centrebacks and would leave a massive hole for a #10 to exploit. Partey is a box to box midfielder, which is why simeone wanted to pair him with a ball winner like torreira which would free up party to get forward more. he won't be sitting deep in arsenal's midfield 3, xhaka will sit deep and partey will play box to box alongside a playmaker/mezzala like ceballos. Just because partey can play Def mid it doesn't mean he is one.

I want Ceballos and Partey to form a trio with Willian in CAM. Pepe Saka and Aubameyang should form front three and Lacazette can later replace Saka in 2nd half and Auba shifts to LW. This way midfield will be strong in attack while not compromising in defence and at Arsenal every player defends so defence is not a problem but creativity and mobility is. Partey Ceballos Willian can be a combination of strength mobility and creativity. Also Willians productivity gets wasted on RW. Xhaka to bench.

Definately better in double pivot like Kante works best there. Either in double pivot two midfieldiers only or 2 CMs and 1 at CAM pushing up. Definately wasted as a 6 same as Kante. Still they have no problem playing there because they are so complete but better in double pivot. Would say Partey is more complete then Kante but slightly less worse defensively. Kante is #1 there. Having Partey at Arsenal for 5 years is going to help everyone alot at the club. World Class signing right there since Viera/G.Silva a player like that was needed.
