"Moderation is alright...if it's not carried to extremes." The man is brilliant!

This man is more relevant, prescient, and necessary now than ever before. Sowell is a voice of reason and hard hitting truth. Read and heed.

There have been many like him over the last 120 years, who seem like prophets simply because they were actually paying attention to reality. And like Sowell, they were all ignored. Despite knowing this, it is still stunning how explicitly what he says matches what is happening under Biden now. I thought I understood the maxim "nothing is new under the sun" but the sentiment still strikes me anyway...

Listening to this I realized 1) we’ve had the same issues for decades, 2) the level of conversion and intellect has deteriorated over the same time frame, and so 3) it’s not likely we will have solutions for those issues this decade either. Time for more wine 🍷

Agreed! It’s depressing to see…. Something else I think that’s a double edged sword that will prolong this change we won’t ever see for decades to come, is urgency, instant gratification. Yes it’s important to move quickly and educate people but there’s truth in the saying “speed skills”. It seems we don’t have any patience to wait for the long term outcomes of anything we try. So everything seems to be a quick fix and it’s scary! Yes more adult beverages!! Haha! 🥂

@30:45. This is the one thing that I really liked about Donald Trump. He flat out told the Dems that they were lying and dishonest/stupid. It wasn't political rhetoric which is why so many thought it was crass and bad but it's what got him the love of 74million americans who had enough of words and wanted to see action/reality return.

I love these recordings - not only for the obvious and effortless wisdom of Thomas Sowell, but for the dry irony with which he delivers it. Wonderful to listen to someone who can be instructive, accessible and entertaining, all at the same time.

this lecture was 1993 it applies directly now the end of 2021. I believe I see Dinesh D'Souza in the back right, Speakers Corner of the lecture hall? As Thomas Sowell comments about political promises being bunk, Donald Trump called bunk bunk and they hate him for it- both Democrats, Never-Trumper's & Rhino Republicans.

one thing about Mr. Sowell, is that any question thrown at him, he can answer that question with honesty, clarity, and authority, because he has wisdom, critical thinking, and discernment....

Did these political figures hear and learn anything from Thomas Sowell ? I think history would say, few learned. I agree the newspaper man showed disrespect. Golden opportunity Dr Sowell provided . How many takers ? Few, Sad.
