Thing is, figures often do NOT say what he says they do. He's certainly right sometimes. But Sowell is wrong a hell of a lot of times, too. The difference here is that one is asking questions for clarity, and the other is providing answers for clarity. I think we say this is a good faith effort on both of their parts. That this feels like a "difference" in objectivity...please. Sowell is NOT an objective participant in political issues. His professional work is chock full of speculative positions that are highly partisan not because of "figures" and objectivity, but because he espouses conservative values, and tries to translate conservative values into pragmatic, statistical analysis. There's nothing wrong with this, but let's not mistake it for objectivity. He's a showman just like Chomsky and other hyper political intellectuals.

It’s amazing how much insight this man has and we see the negative effects of these programs as Harvard is DELIBERATELY discriminating against Asians and requiring a lower GPA and SAT for black students which detrimentally affects the black community as he alluded to where Blacks were at the bottom 10% at these schools. Mr Sowell is 90 yrs old so based on statistics he will not be with us for a great deal longer and the thought of his voice and insight being absent from the future zeitgeist is frightening. I have so much respect for this man and his desire to impart the truth to all of us that I cannot even find the adjective to adequately describe it. The man is a national treasure.
