T1E2H3 at the 2024 Awdry Extravaganza (Talyllyn Railway)

You've probably seen a lot of videos on this event. Here is my experience! I cannot say how thrilling it was to finally meet some of you guys in person and see original props! More footage will be uploaded on my Patreon (link: / t1e2h3 )
As for next year (especially being the 80th anniversary) I honestly don't know if I'll go but given how much I enjoyed this years, I'll definitely keep it in mind!

Really wish I could have been there to go, going to the Talyllyn Railway is definitely on my bucket list of things that I would like to do at some point in the future. In regards to your question at 17:33, the actual steam locomotives only came as far as the bottom of the incline - the empty wagons would be hauled up the incline (known as the Alltwyllt Incline) and then from the top where you were, the path that carries on was a horse-drawn tramway to the next incline (Cantrybedd) where the empty wagons would again be hauled up it by the weight of loaded wagons coming down. Once at the top of the Cantrybedd incline, the empty wagons had reached the slate cutting sheds where they would be loaded with finished cut slates and sent back down both inclines to meet the Railway, and then transported down to Tywyn Wharf for the slate to be transferred to the standard gauge wagons - which would then take the slate via rail across the country, or 10 minutes down the mainline to Aberdyfi and transferred to boats to be shipped abroad. Back in those days there was no station at Nant Gwernol, the passenger service terminated at Abergynolwyn - empty wagons were brought up the Railway attached behind the brake van. Once at Aber, the coaches would be left in the platform and the engine would propel the wagons up to what is now Nant Gwernol - which was 3 tracks that converged into one, and then split into the two lines that went up the incline. It wouldn't be until 1976 that the line to Nant was opened for passengers, after around 7/8 years of work to upgrade the line to passenger standards and building the new station. The Quarry closed after a bad collapse in December 1946, and the volunteers of the Preservation Society took over the Railway in 1951.

What an interesting theory! So that’s why they placed the piece of track at the bottom of the slope of the incline. It’s that the inspiration of the track plans for the Skarloey Slate Quarry?

@@DieselD182 It's not a theory - it's fact. We know that's what happened. The track at the bottom of the incline is to allude to what used to be there and a wagon will be placed upon it in the future! I'm unsure in regards to a Quarry track plan, as we never see the Skarloey's slate quarry in the books - just where the final incline meets the Railway, where Peter Sam has his accident with the slate waggons.

This being the second time I’ve visited, I’ve noticed that there’s a certain magic when on the Talyllyn. It really feels like we travel back in time to the golden age of steam when there. I have a question When you were in the U.K. did you visit The Bluebell Railway or the National Railway Museum in York?

@@Thomas1Edward2Henry3 I have been to the Bluebell Railway back in 2022, and I will tell you this when we were planning on going to the Bluebell Railway the Flying Scotsman was supposed to be there and we had tickets to ride it and then it got cancelled because it was going under repairs and there was a supply chain shortage. When we visited the Bluebell Railway, I did see the real-life Stepney and I also saw Henry's real-life counterpart and Rebecca's real-life counterpart. When I was at the National Railway Museum in York and that museum is fantastic because the engines I saw are from my childhood through Thomas and Friends and I have to ask you this interesting question what was your favorite engine you saw at the museum? For me it would be Emily's real-life counterpart the Stirling Single Locomotive. Another one I liked was the Mallard.

I use both dubs depending on the circumstances and what I feel fits better. For the cow breakfast quote the Angelis line was just too quiet. Carlins Smudger laugh was used for the shot of Dolgoch because I had the line again in the cave. The Angelis laughing sounded creepier and is more of a meme sound so I thought it fit the cave better.

I honestly think you should eventually go to the corrish railway . The one reason on why is so funny … they have there no7 engine that is the same basis as Peter sam exept bright red … who dose that remind you of ? “The filmmaker couldn’t be arsed to figure out the difference between n scale and 009” Yeah it’s real Horace . Only difference being without the sideplates . And the even funnier thing is just on the festiniog not to far away is prince … both your models in close proximity of eachother in wales 😂😂😂 If your coming next year I recomend bring Horace with you on your trip . It’s a common thing for people to do to this kind of event . And not to mention running on the layout in the tent . I am bringing my skarloey with me so maybe bring Horace with you . He could get a fairly large crowd . I mean I am bringing skarloey and terrier 55 Stepney (max) brings his Stepney 00 model everywhere And I will be doing the same with my skarloey in due time . Tho I also came to the event . And maybe next year being Horace to see real Horace . Hope to see you there if I can … if you want to find me I will wear my talylln shirt with sir handel and rusty on it in bright blue with a dark brown more black Afro hair style and mixed race in skin colour and 5,3 in height with glasses … and my models 😂 .
