These are such great tips! I definitely think just taking action and not overthinking too much is one of the most important, but most difficult, steps.

Fantastic video Thomas. It is great how you explain every important part of film making and how you make it so clear what steps to take to figure out your own unique style. I totally agree with the fact that a film maker should take action. The style will be found and created by evaluating the film making proces/career you've been through. Cheers mate!!

If I had to think of two words to sum up my 'style', it would probably be fast-paced and fun adventure. But honestly, I feel like my style changes in every video depending on the footage I have to work with haha. It's such a slow process trying to find what works best for me but I think I'm getting their slowly but surely! Great video Tom :)
@ThomasAlexNorman7 жыл бұрын
Yep that's completely normal! I can feel my style changing quite a lot depending on what I'm filming, but as long as your moving in an overall direction then that's a great thing

Hi Thomas, arrived here from E-Mail. Really like what you are teaching having just switched over to video from years of taking photos i am finding my feet slowly but watching you and listening to your great inspiring tips i am learning to progress and enjoy what i am doing. The hard part for me is coping with the video editor i am finding it a bit of a problem AND so time consuming. Windows Movie Maker i could manage but now i have to use the more professional ones it is becoming a hard frustrating learning curve! I will get there in the end some day so i will keep watching your channel and THANK YOU for being there and for giving out all your great advice and help.

Aaaah... Finding our style, is such a long journey!!! As a baby videomaker, i don't have a style yet, but one thing i know, is i'm not really good at following trends either (like lots of fancy transition - i tried - EDM music as background - and droooooones everywhere) soooo... I'm going to work on those tips to find it! Thanks!

Thank you thomas for the good work you put out there. This reminds me of a casey neistat vlog titled copycats. He said there that you can copy the style but you can never copy the soul. Transcending the style is the substance of a video. What is it all about? What's the story? I think you can be very stylish but if you don't have the substance to back it up, it's pointless. I'm still struggling with my style and especially with my substance, need to keep working on those things.

Hi Thomas, I am enjoying your videos as I am an aspiring photographer, one of my pet peeves in videos is when it goes from say the artist talking then to a clip with a music track and the volume of the track is much, much louder, is this on purpose or unavoidable?
