The ONLY time I've ever had an issue with creatine was on days I wasn't hydrated enough. Once I realized the cramps weren't from low magnesium or potassium, I increased my water intake by around 24 oz daily, and made sure I added an extra electrolyte drink by mid afternoon, and since then, no worries! I'm not saying this is the answer for everyone, but it's working for me

The biggest issue with older Generations is they trusted whatever the govt and its agencies told them without question

Until the 2000s, most people thought the way to lose weight was not eating fats, exercising and lowering calories was the way to lose weight. All the diet programs would push the same propaganda for decades. Around 1980, many studies were saying that fat was healthy and needed for weight loss. This information was never integrated into diet programs. Some diet programs also offered very unhealthy meals to boot. The medical system was an ally of this bad health advice. It is hostile to alternative health. Too many people blindly trust the medical system, which pushes prescription drugs and surgery. Even today, medicare does almost nothing to support alternative DIY healing. I've healed many things the medical system says can't be heard. The internet was the driver of changing people's attitudes on diet and realizing fat was not unhealthy. It is hard to change people who will not lift a finger to research themselves. Until people change and start educating themselves on alternative health to take care of their own health, nothing will change. Most people turn to alternative health because the health system has failed them, they have nowhere else to go. . Many other people are not looking for the root cause of their health problem but only painkillers. Many people on grassroots can't be helped because they won't lift a finger to smarten up and they blindly trust the doctors. The medical system wants to keep people ignorant. Healing people isn't profitable.

Was tired of Kaiser telling me I had kidney problems because of creatinine levels. I told them I was on creatine and lifted weights. They labeled me as having CKD. I paid 23 bucks myself and took a cystain C test which showed all clear.
@bonk3525 ай бұрын
Exactly. Those partaking in bodybuilding/weightlifting after a blood test can often end up having skewed kidney reading results which point to them being diagnosed as having CKD when this is not necessarily true. Some professionals seem to use "a one size fits all" approach which they believe is correct but can turn out false in a number of cases. People can believe what they've been told and it can turn lives upside down. I heard someone who asked for a second opinion by another health professional and confirmed that muscle mass even altered the doctors readings himself despite him not having CKD. Another example is when individuals have another blood test and it states they have to be a certain weight for their height/age and the health professional doesn't take muscle mass into account. It is well known that muscle mass can increase a person's weight. They say something like: You need a strict diet plan because your weight is outside the normal scale and you need to lose weight or: Higher blood pressure (which is actually normal for a percentage of people) who are perfectly healthy. These readings make out that some of the fittest people are apparently very unhealthy of have serious health conditions because some health professionals are blinkered by a one size fits all approach, when really they should be taking a different test/s for those who have muscle mass, especially those healthy and heavier individuals who lift weights. Some lifters may think they have little option but to radically change their lives when they really shouldn't because of one diagnosis.

Do you ever take a break from Creatine, like two weeks or more, and resume?
@kevinm75236 ай бұрын
@Combat556 no, there's no evidence in any of the hundreds of studies that say you should take time off from creatine ingestion, the only caveat (taking over 5g pet day with insufficient water in your body could cause a loading of creatine in your kidneys). But if you're not taking water, then you're not using the creatine properly anyway. Creatine forces the water in your body into your muscle cells, joints, and organs. This properly hydrates your system and helps with the creation and use of ATP.

@kevinm75234 ай бұрын
@tyriley7488 creatine won't help you inherently gain weight, creatine increases the production of ATP (cellular energy production), it also forces water into your joints, organs and muscles. Most of the creatine supplement promoters are relatively young compared to my age in the 70's. Some of the older see their urination frequency go way up when they take creatine causing nocturia. If your urination frequency goes up to intolerable levels after taking creatine supplements, get off of it. Also, getting off of all alcohol and caffeine can greatly help towards controlling too frequent urination. I value the quality of sleep more than strength. Am starting low carb right now for first time. Planning on trying creatine, but not at 5g, maybe 2g to start. Years ago it was considered unwise to load up on a single amino acid alone. I do remember having a positive response from L-arginine in my late 20s, but then stopped it. I totally agree with caution for older beginners.

Also, some said that it makes a person puffy in the face but I’ve lost 10 pounds in the last month and the face has muscle so I don’t mind since I don’t want to look sickly losing muscle. Key points discussed include: Kidney Health: The speaker examines claims that creatine harms kidney function, referencing studies that show no adverse effects in healthy individuals. Dehydration and Muscle Cramps: Concerns about creatine causing dehydration and cramps are addressed, with the speaker citing research indicating no significant increase in these issues among users. Digestive Issues: The potential for gastrointestinal discomfort is discussed, noting that such side effects are generally mild and can be mitigated by proper dosing. Weight Gain: The speaker explains that while creatine can lead to weight gain due to increased water retention in muscles, this is typically a desired effect for those seeking enhanced muscle mass. Rhabdomyolysis: The video addresses the rare risk of severe muscle breakdown, emphasizing that this is uncommon and usually associated with extreme conditions. Compartment Syndrome: Concerns about increased pressure within muscles are discussed, with the speaker indicating a lack of evidence linking creatine to this condition. Hair Loss: The potential connection between creatine and hair loss is examined, with the speaker noting limited evidence supporting this claim. Behavioral Changes: The video explores assertions that creatine may cause mood swings or aggressive behavior, finding no substantial scientific support for these claims. Cancer Risk: The speaker addresses fears that creatine could increase cancer risk, citing studies that do not support this concern

I recommend not doing more than 10g during loading. It seems to cause some GI issues, but that went away after a while for me. I was unaware that taking 10g might be good for the whole body thing and I really like the possibility in improving bone density. Moving up to 10g from 5g starting today. Million dollar question: Does creatine increase Blood Pressure? Anecdotally speaking only, I noticed a significant spike in my systolic blood pressure reading that tracked with creatine water gain. There was nothing else I had done or changed(increased sodium intake, sugar intake, calorie intake, binge eating, lack of sleep, change in exercise, etc.,). Luckily as my BP readings were in the optimal range with lots of wiggle room, it it did not push me in the danger zone. But I imagine if this applies to others, especially those that have hypertension, hypertensive, borderlinehypertensive, it could easily push them in the danger zone and potentially increase the risk of strokes. I googled the issue after discovering that and came across some citations that creatine could potentially increase blood pressure. I have not seen any research on this, and would love to know what creatine experts have to say about this

Maybe to add to the point of muscle cramping and dehydration- I during the times of taking creatine I had several incidences of palpitations/arrythmias including afib for which I was admitted to the hospital for. Could be because of electrolyte imbalance from fluid shift caused by creatinine. I had to stop using it and have had way less incidences. I loved the benefits from it including the muscle pumps and fullness. There may or may not be a connection, though in 10 years I've introduced creatine supplements into my diet 3 times and all 3 times I went to the ER for afib. Your doctor is correct. Based on my personal experience and being on blood pressure medication. You can get enough from eating fish, seafood, steak, legumes, spinach, eggs, and walnuts. Taking additional creatinine as a supplement is great for vegans and athletes that are pushing performance. For anyone dealing with blood pressure or cardiovascular issues I would look at CoQ10, b vitamins, magnesium, olive oil and fiber. You'd be amazed by just clean eating and a couple supplements based on your blood work and or blood pressure getting in check that helps everything else.

I feel creatine made me have kidney issues temporarily . It was either kidney or histamine , I was having issues with my palms peeling everytime I took creatine . Frankly never had an issue with creatine naturally in steak eating carnivore . The problem with supplements is also how they are processed , hexane or what have you/chemical residue , idk something’s in there causing issues at times . Also frankly the body isn’t a dumpster that can handle high amounts of supplements that the body wouldn’t naturally make or consume on its own. The organs just aren’t meant to be loaded with tons of supplements so nowadays I really question supplements most of the time . Some of the pre workouts I see out there have such high doses of everything and people are so irresponsible with their bodies . Most of the time supplements don’t just have one effect, the body uses them for multiple things and it isn’t so simple, the effects are systemic and not isolated. If people weren’t so insecure and wanted to be enormous at all times it wouldn’t be an issue

These experts are so annoying. I'm 38 and have been messing around with creatine since 14 when it first got popular. It absolutely makes my hair fall out every single time I do a cycle. I would never get off of it if it weren't for the hair thing because I love it so much. Look at any comment section on this subject and you will see tons of other guys with the same experience. Long term effects have NOT been documented, contrary to what many say. You can find anecdotal reporting of guys taking creatine for 15 years and being fine. And the point is? Some people can smoke for 15 years and be fine. Some people can have high cholesterol and high blood pressure and be fine for 20 years, until they're not anymore. I'm a vegan, I do weight training and calisthenics and I run 3 times a week. I'm also a personal trainer. I've seen a marginal gain in strength with creatine, 2% maybe, with the ability to do 2-3 extra rep on a given weight, but my running sucks and my ability to do calisthenics too. I'm short, 5'8 and creatine makes me gain 6 pounds, and those pounds are a bitch to carry when I run either long or when I try to do interval training. Not worth it. Also I appreciate everybody saying that creatine is the safest supplement on the planet and that it's been so much studied. Sure, please forward more than one studies in which the "researchers" declare that they have no conflict of interest. Without being paranoiac, do you really believe that in 2024 marketing hasn't reached a level of sophistication that would involve irreprochable studies done by "legit" scientists?

@supernivemdealbabor Жыл бұрын
It Increases blood pressure, risk of brain stroke an cardiovascular risk: blood becomes denser and sticker, which results in a heavy effort from a circulatory and cardiac point of view. Besides, it boosters muscle water demand i.e. the amount of water that muscles (intracelular water) need to stay in homeostasis (equlibrium and well functioning), this fact, in combination with heavy sweating from exercise furthens the abovementioned effects. From there, sympthoms like headaches or intracraneal pain are derived, which are a good advice to stop taking it. Slightly greenish orine colour is another sign that it is provoking malfunctioning in the organism, even if symphoms are not perceived by those affected: renal and hepathic biologic processes.

I've gotten rabdo twice while taking creatine. It wasn't the fault of the supplement, obviously, it was my fault. I have a massive tendency to under hydrate, and i live in south Georgia where it's miserably hot during the summer, and i tend to do things that are very labor intensive even in those times. I also eat a lot of meat, so i have naturally high Creatine levels. Also intake a lot of caffeine. He mentions that muscles can be super hydrated with proper hydration in those situations. What he didn't say is that if you have bad hydration, and your muscles are soaking up what you are getting, other functions like neural and renal are very easily compromised. None of this makes Creatine bad, but it absolutely needs to be taken seriously and intelligently. That's why i hate when these kids of guys act like it's absolutely safe and only beneficial. In a vacuum, yes. In actual practice in real life, definitely not the case.

When I first took creatine I wasn't even aware of this "myth", so when my hair started thinning I just thought it was an age problem (I was in my early 30s, my father got male pattern baldness; not my maternal grandfather tho), but then I recovered, still I didn't link it to the discontinuing of creatine. I tried once again last year, in my early 40s, and it literally ravaged my hair, to the point I was considering transplant. Once again I initially thought it was just an ageing effect, but when the trichologist knew I was using it, told me "it might as well be a myth, but there's a busload of anecdotal evidence". I obviously discontinued it (once and for all) and my hair recovered big time. I also didn't notice any significant boost in my progression while taking it, nor gain losses after, so...

If you already have a high Creatinine level and in turn a low eGFR, (which indicates poor kidney function) it would be advisable to stay clear of Creatine. But if your Creatinine level is low and in turn eGFR is high, you pretty much have the green light to use Creatine. I wish I could take Creatine, but due to my poor kidney function, low eGFR, I have been advised by a Nephrologist (kidney specialist) to stay clear of Creatine supplements.
