Huge thanks to Skillshare for sponsoring this video and supporting my channel!
One day in college, I found myself waking up in the same day over and over again. I also realized that I looked exactly like Bill Murray on that day. By reliving the exact same day dozens, if not hundreds of times, I eventually figured out how to avoid every possible misstep that could happen. I learned how to dance, saved the world from aliens, and received the key to the city.
Unfortunately, I was a student for more than one day. Here are some of the mistakes I made on those other days - and what you can learn from them.

...Most of my classes had easy tests. A lot of them were straight out of the books, so I just had to read the relevant chapter right before class started, and pick the multiple choice answer that completed the quote that I had just seen. But I think I probably would've remembered more in the long run if I had to learn the stuff.

I regret : 1. procrastinating in school and college as well. 2. Lacking confidence in myself 3. Allowing the horrifying sad experiences in school depress me. 4. Not investing time on my talents because i was mostly depressed + daydreaming.

I regret not starting a KZbin channel while it was in its infancy instead of trying to get straight A’s in college.
@Thomasfrank
@Thomasfrank 5 жыл бұрын
Mitigate that regret and start one now! I guarantee you there are people who will start brand new channels this year and grow bigger than me before 2019 is over. Yes, there's more competition on the platform than ever - but there are also more viewers, which makes niches that were totally non-viable before have an actual chance at getting decent viewership (seriously - who could have predicted a channel like TierZoo?)
@clayshippy2652

Yes - more competition, but more viewers. Television is dead. In the 1990s I used to be able to watch college courses on cable. Wonder if they still do that.

How naiv. Thats not how it works. Production levels have risen so high, that basically nobody can create a youtube channel part-time. You need to commit heavily to it, with at least 1 video a week. Even if you want the most basic level of success. Its way better to use youtube as a tool, to create customers, for a services that you offer and then do that service. ALWAYS EARN MONEY FROM DAY1.

One regret as a student: choosing a major you don’t really enjoy:/
@Grazikon
@Grazikon 5 жыл бұрын
Same here. I chose French and German because I like languages and that's the ones we studied at school, but especially French is not favourite language. Now I study more varied languages in my master, and focus more on creole languages and malagasy that interest me more. Though I suppose French was a bit of a springboard towards these languages.

...Or choosing a college without the major you wanted. There was one specialized college that had sent me info, and it sounded really wonderful, but no one I knew thought I should try applying there, so I just went to the local college I lived close to. I did get a free ride there, though. But it took a long time to decide on a major and I didn't get to do what I really wanted.

Choosing a wrong university is my regret I am studying biology in a third world country ( my home) and it's soooo bad I was excited at first, but then I realized that I am not learning biology the way it should be. Everything we have is broken and stuck, missing or old, or we have just one of something and we shouldn't touch it. Biology is based on discovering and experimenting not just staring at the professors ( who by the way are very old and most of them don't welcome questions) some of my professors don't even prepare the books ( we don't buy books, we buy a copy of the professor's lessons ) the copies are either late or in a bad condition ... They don't respect the exam date, and they always change it to their likings ... So it's always a surprise. I wished I went to another university out of my country ( I know people studied outside the country, and the system is way better than ours )

The best advice I've ever gotten from a teacher is "know when to do A- work." Of course, it's great to go above and beyond but sometimes to maximize efficiency and minimize burnout it's okay to not give 110% to an assignment that has little impact overall.

MULTIFANDOM // BTS and A.C.E slay my lifeu not just studying so much by heart, but to actually try and make use of what you learn. applying it. maybe in specific job, maybe by talking to people outside of your circle etc. ALSO: taking care of your life as well, getting involved and forming real friendships, enjoying life while being a student. eating healthy, working out...thinking about finances stuff like that.

The ”too hard”, I am definately guilty of, I struggled on my own with math parts of certain courses instead of looking for someone who could me understand it. Mostly I blamed it on , shrugged it of, by not taking a higher math course before university, but I didn’t make a effort to truly gather that knowledge in hindsight. I really didn’t have any friends in the courses that could help me but I could probably have found help somewhere else. Communities online being the quick and easiest one. I came to the university a student with good grades and view of myself as a Academically skilled but quickly felt behind compared to the other classmates’ skills. Which the math-parts Only made me feel even more like I was misplaced. In short, if you are struggling and feel like you have no one around that can help, quit the self-pity and look further. Find ways to fill in the gaps in your own knowledge and skills.

I was a student a long long long time ago. Guess what? I went back to college and am writing back to college from which I am writing this comment. This was long before KZbin existed and even at a time when people where only starting to get interested in computers and what they were all about. People actually were more curious about computers and wanted to learn more about them before the average worker had a terminal on his desk [today]. Eventually, my first laptop back then had a Black and White Screen with WIN 3.1. But here I am again -- back in school-- and one can be sure to learn practical approaches to being a student. And no, you'll not likely find a relationship at a bar nor, is it a good or reasonable place to look. Let that be your college lesson for the future especially if your an undergrad now. I'm still learning new and valuable lessons. These ready tips and tricks were not available back then. You had to work more to find them. Most of your lessons were learnt from doing and that may be the most valuable lesson of all.

On the note of giving up too soon, I recently took a course on "Philosophy of Logic." It's a class that reviews the basics of logic language in order to prep Comp. Sci. based majors for programming classes, as a Bio major (you can imagine) it was interesting. My first exam grade was a 55% and I honestly didn't think that I could go through the class, but I pushed on and ended up with a B+ in the class. At the end of the day, you will get the greatest satisfaction when you push yourself at something you struggle at.

I would be a bit more serious if I could start it from the beginning. During my frashman years I was totally irresponsible with my college career, I was just partying and tried to avoid most of the college related stuff. That was my main mistake. During my third year, I've started following you on KZbin, and about that time, I've had a turning point. Now I've graduated and have a good job oportunity, but I know that my life could turn out really bad too. Thanks for the support during the grind. Keep on! :)

All of these literally relate to what I struggled with my first year of college and I currently am taking a break from college and I kind of regret doing this because I feel like it’s going to be difficult for me to go back and learn the material especially with math I struggled in the class and meeting the deadlines and trying to figure out what I want to major in I also struggled with finding study groups
