It's nice that Nintendo let Pauline have a deeper, more mature voice. They seem to be deathly allergic to deeper female voices for some reason, Daisy and Rosalina's voice changes are examples of that.

I personally don't mind the newer voice direction for Daisy in later appearances where she sounds energetically higher in pitch, but how Rosalina sounds now might be my gripe a bit because she's leaning to sound more like Peach, which makes her lose that unique ethereal vibe to her original voice direction from Super Mario Galaxy. Although, when it comes to Daisy again, I have a preference to that voice she got in the 1st Super Mario Strikers where she sounds fittingly tomboyish with a lot of that spunk mixed with a flavor of masculine energy to her tone.

@@BuizelCream Well, if we take the theory that Peach was Rosalina’s mother in a previous cycle of the galaxy as fact, it does kind of make sense for them to have similar voices. Though, I’ve not really heard a major change in Rosalina’s voice recently.

Why does Nintendo keep changing everyone's hair color? Peach, Pauline, Daisy...they never stay the same. EDIT: Stop saying game limitations. The old cartoons and ads don't match the game either. Pauline had blonde hair in the cartoons but now she has dark hair.

Sprite limitations on old consoles meant they were limited in what colors they could use. If you look at official artwork you’ll see that Peach and Daisy’s hair colors haven’t actually changed all that much. Peach’s hair went from light brown to blonde and Daisy has always had brown hair.

Colour limitations. NES could only display something like 8 colours on screen at any given moment, which is why Mario in the original Super Mario Bros. is only made up of 3 colours, brown for his shirt, shoes, overall buttons, eyes, moustache and hair, red for his overalls and hat, a yellow-ish peach colour for his skin. They were really struggling to make unique character designs with limitations, so many colours are re-used for different parts of a single sprite, or re-used across multiple characters.

Kate Higgins has already worked on Nintendo projects before landing the role with Pauline, she got to voice Lissa from Fire Emblem Awakening in 2012, returning for Fire Emblem Heroes (2017) and Fire Emblem Warriors (2017) to voice the character again with the addition of voicing a new character in FEH with Serra from The Blazing Blade (2003) and then she voiced Purah from Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017) in a flashblack cutscene for the Champion's Ballad, where you can hear her directing the picture for the Champions + Zelda & Link, then she fully voiced Purah in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (2020), then reprised the role again in Tears of the Kingdom (2023), 2017 was basically a big year for Kate Higgins, because so many Nintendo games released with her voicing a character in it. Fun Fact: She's the current voice of Princess Aurora from Disney as of 2010.

I'm also happy that Pauline is finally part of the Mario Party cast too, which was long overdue since her Odyssey revival. Two Mario Party games were released on the Switch before the recent Jamborgee, and she's not in both of those games for some reason. I'm happy to see Pauline in the modern spinoffs. I think it really solidifies the Mario/DK connection that they've been trying to push more as well. Maybe we'll see Pauline (and DK) in a main line game like how they brought Rosalina into 3D World. I’m very glad that unlike some Mario characters Pauline has had a consistent voice ever since she was given one. The only downside is that since Kate Higgins has a larger career than most Mario VAs I hear her voice all over the place (she also coincidentally voiced another brunette mayor in red in Scooby Doo Mystery Incorporated, which I find a funny coincidence).
