Yep. He's gotta drop the hat snd necktie. We don't dress like that. A black tee-shirt, swandry and gumboots be better lol.

Haha that was my reaction too... no one anywhere in the country would ever wear that ensemble!! Especially that neckerchief thing 🤣

Super talented. I hope she isn't hurt and isn't changed by all the negative things that can come with fame and film.

I would almost watch this segment twice because of her lovely simple polite charm. You don't see that often in a young girl these days.

Just watched "Last Night at Soho". I think her performance as a rather fragile, unconfident country girl who's trying to proof something is spot on.

She is soooo sweet! And very very talented

what a sweetheart, I honestly thought she was british until she said she was a kiwi. as a New Zealander she's basically spot on - about the outfit (sorry Stephen!) and esp re the not making a big fuss of celebrities. I'm a bit older than her, we're really fortunate - we get the best of American, British and homegrown tv (even before internet - now - *everything* is available online). my ex was a canadian, born in the same year as me (1970) - and we shared 99% of our cultural references esp in terms of TV.

Were you aware of The Beachcombers?

Yes, she sounded more British, almost Scottish at points. The only thing that gave her away is how she pronounced her vowels. I also picked up a certain subtle arrogance behind the sweet tones but then again, being an Australian, we are more obviously arrogant. Would you agree?
@LincolnDWard3 жыл бұрын
As someone from the US, my biggest point of reference for identifying a New Zealand accent is that all of the vowels sound like they have a soft short "i" sound behind them. She definitely has that : )

Basically spot on? Ever heard of NZ Chesdale Cheese? The hats are farmland - Barry Crump would wear one, Billy T too. Australians wear corks hanging down with bigger brim for the sun.
