'Blitzkrieg Bop' - Drum Lesson - The Ramones

I am a drummer and drumming instructor who actually teaches this song to my private students. I think that Thom did an excellent job here, making it "achievable" for beginner drummers. He wisely modified it to suit their abilities. Remember that this song is about 176 beats per minute, so Thom is emphasizing the essential parts... the backbeats, the cymbal crashes, and the low tom groove. Of course, eighth notes for the ride pattern are preferred, but quarter notes can still get a beginner through the song safely!!! LOL. Sometimes I have my students start with eighth notes, and if they feel that they are lagging behind the beats, then just let them switch to quarter notes for a while. I think that Thom did a superb job here and is a superb demonstrator.
