You can tell Thorin cares about stuff like this when he makes a 1 hour video criticizing the hall of fame and then summarizing it with "there is a lot to like about this, I don't have many negative things to say, it's pretty well done. Of all the hall of fames, it is probably the best one I've ever seen done so far."

From the traditional sports hall of fame perspective, I think the best 2 ways of thinking are: -If someone mentions a name, there should be zero hesitation on if they're in or not. There shouldn't be a "Maybe" or any room for debate. Going off basketball since that was what Thorin talked about in the video, if I said Jordan, Lebron, Duncan, Dirk, etc. Those should be an immediate "absolutely those are hall of famers". If I said Blake Griffin, yeah he was popular and had his moment, but is he really a hall of famer? If it can be argued against, then they are not a hall of famer in my opinion. There's nothing wrong with being in the hall of very good, but the hall of fame should be the elite of the elite. -The only other way I believe you can make it into the hall of fame if you don't fit the 1st points criteria is if you cannot tell the history of the sport without them. Maybe their career was cut short, or maybe they didn't have the greatest stats, but they made such an impact that you can make an acceptation. It's a bit easier to have this in the NFL, so people like Terry Bradshaw, or maybe Julian Edelman would be 2 players that didn't have jump off the page incredible stats, but they were such key figures for so long that I can see why they get in.

@ you say it’s whoever’s on a good team as if they’re some bum that was along for the ride. For the 2010s, I don’t think you can say there were a better trio than Brady-Gronk-Edelman. Edelman is obviously the bottom of those 3, but he was a key player in the nfl especially during playoffs for nearly a decade. The guy is top 3 in receiving yards during the playoffs. That’s why I think someone like him could get a pass because they were a big difference maker when it matters most. I will say it’s not purely story telling, I’m not gonna put in the helmet catch guy because he made one play that killed the 07 pats perfect season.

Would be great content if Thorin could bring a panel together of different people from each era of CS starting from beginning and make his own Hall of Fame podcast style. Could even bring different panel for different parts of CSS and CS 1.6. Hard to organized for sure.

If you look at cs you have to weigh in the fact that you are looking at three different games. Like thorin points out you can do three hall of fames for every game. But I think it’s also interesting to look at players who were a top player at more then one version of cs. I mean Heaton was a top player at cs 1.6, s1mple at csgo but for example neo and f0rest were top players at 1.6 and csgo. For me that means you already can’t really compare Heaton and f0rest. And another point if you look at esports compared to regular sports is the level of professionalism. Esports is quite young. So there’s a huge difference to a Heaton who is grinding cs to win 100 bucks compared to a ropz who is getting a monthly salary by an org to grind dm and learn smoke line ups. This fact didn’t really evolve in soccer the last 20 years. Those players always get good money.

Not a fare comparison because as a 36 year old who started playing cs when I was 12. There was that one league that came out, it was supposed to be like one of the first televised gaming leagues, it included multiple games, maybe around 06/07/08. They took pro 1.6 teams but wanted to use source because the graphics were nicer, and it split the 1.6 pro community in half between source and 1.6. Before this happened most of the pro players said they preferred 1.6 to source. The positive of this was that it brought more great players up in 1.6 but also young great players who started in source got to move up.

Valve would need to do it themselves and they could even monetize it by giving each HoF Member a sticker. Imagine for example being able to rock a fRoD sticker on your awp in cs2

They should have it so Thorin just gets to pick who he thinks and then that panel has the right to call him on any names they disagree with and fail to outer-argue it 😂

Flash should be first round first pick hall of fame for an eSports hall of fame. 3 OSL, 3 MSL, WCG, 4 ASL.

I could mention alot of swedes that probably should be on that list ahead of some in that HLTV list. Here is me trying: f0rest, GeT_RiGhT, HeatoN, Potti, SpawN, Walle, Zet, hyb, dsn, vesslan, cArn, vilden, Tentpole, Robban, Hyper, delpan. If we want to add women I think Queen should be in, first one to do it (i think?) and she played with and against men. Here is me continuing naming swedes that might be more of a stretch: GudeN, Snajdan, Fisker, ahl, ScreaM, Medion, Brunk. These are in my eyes and from the top of my head people that should all atleast be considered and as a final mention I'll say Bullen could be in there aswell, RIP.

Might be stretching it with some as personal preference and me being a swede growing up watching these players makes me bias as hell but I commented just to further illustrate the problem. You could go through admittedly a shorter list of players from Norway, Denmark and perhaps one or two from Finland as well that should be on that list before ANY CS:GO pro ever gets in...

I would always put Savior[GM] over jaedong prob even boxer. Wasn't the term bonjwa created because of how dominant he was. Revolutionize how modern day zerg is played. The judge are probably fans of Neo, that are hoping he will make a come back, kappa.

Seems like they picked names that are famous in the scene not the best players. The only reason Olof/kennys is mentioned is because his impact on the game right not that he was some god of the game if you think he was that’s just not true. Feels the same with sixer right this just seems like a popularity contest and for those who don’t know Thorin as always bang on about ksharp he was a multi time rank 1 PvP player with a insane ego I played with for 2 seasons and couldn’t stand anymore then I farmed for awhile in wow PvP but he did used to tell stories of playing counter strike I never put 2 and 2 together but also I didn’t even watch CSgo or thorin till like 2015 I know I am not a expert. But no way is ksharp good this dude would just try and bully people with mechanics and if you were better he could never accept it. I believe he even tried to go pro in wow at some point on an elemental shaman the class he was famous for. I don’t know enough about the games history I guess but how is this guy better then anyone thorin listen idk

I remember cause he was famous for playing disc/ele getting power infusion and shitting on people. The priest wasn’t that great though when I was peaking i gigga abused this guys priest till he rage logged loooooool noob ass don’t deserve to be on any list

Great content. But regarding minute 7: Especially within CS fanbase you find a lot of very intolerant anti-LGBT, racist people who also have issues with women playing cs. Some of them are even minor to middle-sized influencers. Two weeks ago I saw a Polish Instagrammer wishing dead to a gay guy and he got thousands of likes... Since I have now moved to an RTS as my fav game these CS-fanbase deficiencies become even more blatant for me. In this RTS there are also some authoritarian far righters trying to get a foothold. But, leading influencers called them out and they moved on.
