Thanks but it is much longer over here before the summer holidays, about 8 weeks I think. Thor hammers are very well made and if you wanted to get one it would probably be cheaper to order one directly from the Thor website. Take care

Thanks again for doing this review and I got the double copper hammer.keep up the good work and I to have a couple of old garden tractors .two sears 1974,one craftsman 93,a John Deere K316 1978, and a MTD that I’m not sure but it’s a early 70s. Thanks for the review. My records show that I bought my Thor No. 714/ 44mm nylon hammer brand new on 1/7/08 for NZD$55.88, and I absolutely love it. I use it more than any other hammer in my workshop and the ends need replacing now (might buy new ones tomorrow, they’ll cost me more than the hammer itself!). I just bought a Thor No. 2 copper/rawhide hammer today, brand new, for NZD$92.18. All this stuff is available over the counter in a good engineering store here in New Zealand.
@GardenTractorBoy2 ай бұрын
It is fantastic that you can buy these in New Zealand. We have also been told that they are also available in America and Canada. Sadly we have very few engineering stores over here now but we do have one near us that stocks Thor hammers and parts. I think it is great that you have a record of when you bought your hammer. Take care and thanks for commenting on my video

I picked up a No.4 from a boot sale for £1 today, it's a beast! I've just finished cleaning it up. Both heads have seen an awful lot of use but I've given them a tidy up. The copper face has burred over and is very pitted, I've tidied it up with a file but left plenty of patina. The hide face was splaying a bit so I put some super glue on it and compressed it with a pipe clip. I tidied that with a file too then cleaned the iron with oil and wire wool. It's not quite as good as new but it'll probably last another lifetime yet! It's really heavy so I'm confident that anything I hit with it will stay hit 😂

picked one up at the local flea market, same size as the new ones you got there but has the THOR cast like the older bigger one there. Was told by the seller that MGs, Jaguars had this like you indicated as a tool in their kit. These were used to remove the knock off nuts. beautiful looking hammer, just wish on the iron head, they would still cast the thor name!

How's she goin'? It's so nice to see a good tool and knowing that it's a good tool before you buy it is pretty nice too. A lot of what we consider good brands have moved their manufacturing to places where labor and work place safety are not as good as we would expect and I think that has hurt their quality. Thanks for sharing this and take care!!!

Good quality hammers with plenty of use options. There is nothing quite so satisfying as owning a good tool. So many things these days compete for the cheapest price and very often they don't last. For example, last week I bought a multi-bit screwdriver that was a knock off of a superior brand and it failed within the first use. These Thor hammers look like they are going to last a lifetime especially if the replacement tips remain available.
@GardenTractorBoy2 жыл бұрын

@GardenTractorBoy2 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I think they are the perfect tool for car wire wheels. I believe some of the ends are threaded but the most require the use of a special tool. Thor provide the details on how to replace the ends on their website together with the dimensions of the tool you need. Take care

To remove you hacksaw it off flush and drill it out. I insert a new head you need to make a tool and the details are on the Thor website under the Resources/downloads drop down. The URL may not display if KZbin removes it, otherwise it is here www.thorhammer.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/06/combined-replacing-faces-and-opening-and-closing-tool.pdf I hope this helps
