This was peak Thor. The Russos handled Thor's character extremely well, and Taika Waititi ruined it in Thor Love & Thunder. I really hope the Russos take control over Thor again instead of turning him into an absolute goofball like Taika is doing.

When you ignore that out of the story it was just a setup for a joke, Thor going from "Your father killed my brother!" to "Families can be hard." So quickly gives me the impression that he was trying to provoke a reaction from Gamora. If she had gotten defensive of Thanos instead of just staring into space (well past accepting what a monster her father is), I think Thor would have started getting far more aggressive real quick. But as soon as he saw Gamora wasn't trying to defend her father's actions he backed off.
