That looks like a very good wash action. surprising that other machines haven't used it, though it may have been tough on the bearings.

Lee Maxell at the Oldewash museum has an example, and talks about it on a KZbin video shot by his son. As far as I know, this was an optional agitator used for washing delicates, and could be changed out for the regular agitator..
