Hi Thora! By pure chance, as I was watching the video trailer for the new book on A von Humboldt, your face appeared (the Science Slam in Kassel), and I was drawn to watch and listen. You totally brightened my morning, thanks, and I hope there are lots more Earth Scientists like you. Also, the speed at which you talk was very good practice for my slightly rusty German! @@thoraschubert6723 Thanks for replying: I know it's not exactly your field of expertise, but I think it would be great if people with a talent for "stand-up" comedy - like you - would perform on the subject of global warming. Nothing against Greta Thunberg, she's great, but I think humour - even dark humour - find's a way into people's minds in a way that dry facts and figures don't. My son's uncle, from Heidelberg Uni, does quantum physics for young people as an entertainment. I'm sure you turned a lot of people on to earth science!

@@PeterOzanne Thanks for perceiving me as capable of doing so. Climate change is a difficult topic, which should be handled with care, that's why it's a long term project on my "science communication to do list" (if you want to call it like that). I would want to dig deep and make no mistakes when talking about it. But - for example - the IPCC report has about 100 pages. And I would want to react to climate change deniers positions as well (since they have to originate from some false assumptions that should be corrected), which is an exhausting thing to read about :D So - I agree, but I don't think that I'm capable of handling that much responsibility yet.

@@thoraschubert6723 I would be pleased if I saw you doing science slam/communication more often! :) Science needs more public speakers who are capable of explaining scientific facts in a simple manner and inspire some listeners to pursue science as well. Also, coming from your 2018 Kassel science slam video, it's hard to believe that someone as charming as you might have difficulties with fellow humans ;)

Ich nehme an, du beziehst dich auf 0:10 im Video - irgendwie stimmt sowohl Thoras Beschreibung als auch Deine.- nur versuchst du, sie mit einer ebenso unvollständigen Beschreibung zu "korrigieren", und das dürfte dich zum KLUGSCHEIßER machen... ich versuch mich mal als BESSERWISSER: Den Sauerstoff, den Pflanzen abgeben, entnehmen sie tatsächlich dem Wasser - aber sie wandeln NICHT Wasser in Sauerstoff um und lassen den Wasserstoff einfach verschwinden... Sie nehmen H2O (Wasser) und CO2, zerlegen das ganze und mischen die Cs, Os und Hs in einem mehrstufigen Prozess neu durch bis am Ende C6H12O6 (Zucker) rauskommt und es bleibt eine Menge O2 (Sauerstoff) übrig.
