Cloud 9 is also a quite new team (sort of) as they added the last couple players two months ago. They got a lot of events to improve on and or prove their worth and as they've shown on their best day they can challenge Fnatic in Europe. But it felt like they took a great advantage in this tournament from knowing what the opposing teams like to do. If they show up big and takes ESWC and wins some bo3 series against higher tier European teams there I'll acknowledge them as a true top tier team. Great video as always :3

They definitely passed many set expectations for themselves and NA as a whole. It didn't necessarily set a precedent for C9, which I think they can continually reach, for me yet at least. Maybe with further showings and tournaments we can depict an accurate assessment. Regardless, it was an entertaining grand final. Not a smooth one, but it was enjoyable to watch Fnatics remarkable comebacks.

I think the reason EnVyUS couldn't do anything against C9 because of how hard sGares anti-stratted them. You can tell in the comms how many vods he must have watched of NV on cache.

Hey Thorin, I think the reason why Skadoodle doesn't attempt to make these crazy plays to get insane frags and highlight worthy rounds is because of his personality. Dazed and Steel have both said that Skadoodle wasn't a very vocal person. Dazed has also said that one of the reasons he liked playing with Skadoodle so much on ibuypower was because of how reliable he was in the fact that he could ask him to play a certain position and trust that he would land a shot.

Actually Shroud wasn't playing particularly well on cache in the finals, so he didn't get frustrated because of him not being able to carry the team in that sense.

I believe Freakazoid can have as much impact in the future tournaments as well. Players have good and bad games all the time and entry fraggers even more so. Shroud and Ska will need to play super good to win top teams? Well of freaking course they have to but at the same time any team that wants to win C9 will have to play well. The most important thing I personally thought is their structure as a team. They all have roles and Sean has good sense of the game. Their problem seems to be CT sides and over rotating in some cases like the Overpass against Fnatic they over rotated to B and got surprised and killed while rotating back to A since it was fake to B. This happened more than once. Individual skill is always a factor and C9 seems to have it enough. But performance level changes between games for all players. So this type of analyzing from Thoorin is kinda situational. Same we could say about EnVy since they struggled and their problem is that if Shox and Happy are not playing well they will loose! Well, in my opinion C9 managed to shut down Shox so well on Cache in particular that he had problems to play overall. But this was only one tournament so we shall see and we can only hope that C9 continue to go forward and play better and better. In the sake of the whole scene.

The only EU team they actually beat convincingly was NV. They lost to Virtus Pro, then they had a easy semi final against CLG and then they got beat by Fnatic. They played well vs Fnatic but they didn't really show a lot of mental fortitude since they had huge leads on 2 maps and couldn't take the win. The firts time it was understandable since Fnatic was playing CT side and once they got their economy rolling they only dropped one map when JW got caught out, Fnatic was playing perfect defense otherwise. The second time it happened though(on Dust2) was pretty pathetic by Cloud9, if you want top be a top team you can't lose like that, They had a HUGE lead and even had a good start into the second half, then they just lost 5 rounds straight when they were on match point. Champions don't do that shit. Anyway it was a much better showing than we're used to and they showed that they now have to be taken seriously but they still lost 3-1 in the end with big advantages. Cloud9 had so many good starts on maps and for instance on Dust2 they totally crippled the econmy of Fnatic who were on the CT side, they couldn't do anything but when Fnatic was in the game economically it was often pretty one sided.

while i agree with you about some (if not most) aspects of cloud9's game. I feel like your perception of Skadoodle seems to be skewed. While i agree with you saying he let's the game come to him. I'd say he's the only one on C9 who's going to get impact frags every time he needs to hit a shot. I'm just thinking back to a Dust 2 i'm just remembering him literally saving the round hitting an insane shot on a CT pushing window for the retake. He tends to be the kind of awper who isn't aggressive, but if you put him in a spot where he's essentially a turret (for lack of better words). As long as he's the one being pushed i'd say he's almost unbeatable. At this point and with this knowledge i'd say that it doesn't become a problem of him not making plays, but a matter of making sure he's positioned in a place where he can get the frags. Now with this being said, is it more important to play to his strengths,or would having him run around the map and maybe make plays be the better option? Preferably i'd like to see the team as a whole trying to put him in a position where he's always being the guy who's first or second in line to defend against T's even if it means that the other C9 players need to be able to rotate around the map more.

Shroud really showed up Frag wise but his communication was very poor. Freakazoid played really good this LAN and made really important clutches and good communication. Ska was solid until he played Fnatic where he obviously got shut down quite regularly but against the best team in the world its tough to play to your level. sgares`s leadership was way better and more disciplined than before he wasnt afraid to put guys in there place when they werent listening but he also let his team add info to the strat. n0thing was consistent this LAN frag wise but made alot of mistakes and made a few misplays especially on cache and overpass vs fnatic/VP

I think C9 is a very good team but they are missing one more piece to put them over the top and consistently perform well aginst Euro teams. I hate to say it but most likely to find that missing piece n0thing needs to be removed. Out of everyone on that team he has the least amount of excuses when he performs poorly. He was in great form before going overseas, he has tons of experience playing internationally and yet he still under performs and seems very lost at certain moments in the game. Either n0thing needs to step up and play like the veteran CS player and former NA star that he was or they need to add in someone who can perform against Euro teams because dominating NA isnt going to get you anywhere. Do you want to end up like iBP and be remembered for what could have been or a team who got the job done overseas. This is a professional sport its time to stop acting like best friends and act like competitors who want to win a major. N0thing start taking it serious or find someone who will.

Dallas Cade that they struggled to close out games means nothing apart from: they struggle in these high pressure situations and late in games its hard for them to come up with new stuff they havent used before in this match. if freakazoid doesnt get that 1v2 clutch with 10 hp on cache in a super key round vs nv, maybe they lose this. maybe maybe maybe wwho gives a fuck. if they just choked they need to adress this matter and if they made mistakes and had too few strats and ideas to fall back on they need to adress that. fnatic beat them fair and square.

It's hard to watch your videos and tell whether or not you're being biased against NA or if I am being biased for them, but it seems you always seem to err on the side of EU via making excuses for EU teams and/or qualifying any NA success. My particular favorite: (paraphrasing here) "[freakazoid had the tournament of his life and will not usually play at that level, and if he doesn't they lose that match 10 out of 10 times]." I think a lot of viewers get frustrated because you bring to light so many fact-based insights and expositions, but then weave in your own personal opinions to justify why things are the way they are to you. I understand it's called "Thorin's Thoughts," but maybe sometime you could wear an American Flag and make a video called "What NA Fans Want to Hear... Thoughts"?
