Been watching Thorin since 2016 now and he has single handedly made me an immense fan of CSGO. I don't even play the game, but the depth of his content and analysis made me curious and when I investigated for me self o found an esport of nuance, excitement, and real appeal. The best example of a team not doing an execute the way astralis did it would be faze vs cloud9 at the major. Stewie hiding in New box was able to make it to overtime and win the major

Reason is glave is great igl. Rest are idiots besides zeus, Fallen, Pronax and neo. There is no strat book for Karrigan, Niko. They just rely on enemies mistakes, timing and idividual plays. They dont know how how to take sites or setup crossfire properly. If you not lazy to learn smokes and have your team working like unit you break any site. Karrigan never worked on good strats or team chemistry and top of that he weak mentally thats why they Faze never won many tounaments like Sk or Astralis.

The luck aspect is very complicated. In Obi Wan's words there is no such thing luck! And I kinda agree. For example as a football player I have done some amazing shots that land pitch perfectly on the upper corner. How many free kicks will a star player like Ronaldo shoot? He may miss countless times or maybe not hit perfectly but is it just luck when he kicks that perfect kick that is impossible to save by goalie. So its not just lucky to get things right at one particular moment. It has been trained. No one could with luck hit kind of freekick ronaldo can for example.

You compare CS to Basketball. I think that's a great comparison. Because Astralis is running a lot of automatics. Imo that's the reason why they are that good. While other teams have to talk it through ingame every Astralis player instantly knows what to do when Glaive makes a call. Astralis is extremely structured in high pressure situations. There is a prepared gameplan for most situations and that's the main difference between "choketralis" back then and Astralis now. The basic structure was always there but in high pressure situations a few players could not handle it. Device now vs Device back then for example is as different as night and day.

The IGL role needs no huge explanation. There is one guy calling strategies and giving each teammate tasks. Obviously most of his calls will be ignored by his teammates because deep inside every single one of them believes he knows better. After a game is lost then, the IGL is the one to blame on twitter even though noone did what he actually wanted them to do. A few weeks/months later the IGL finally get's kicked/replaced by a mechanical more skilled player with absolutely no brain or gamesense. Unfortunately the only reason why the new one is better mechanical wise, is the fact that the IGL spent most of his time preparing for opponents, analysing them, and creating gameplans while the new one spent these hours playing and practicing his mechanics. Now there is noone left to blame anymore and another player takes over the IGL role. Soon he realises he was wrong the whole time and he regrets the decision to remove the IGL. The one person having his back all the time and taking all the hate tweets in place of the team is gone - winning a major with another team.
