In this episode of the Tudor Travel Guide's A-Z of Tudor places, Sarah explores the Tudor history of Thornbury Castle in South Gloucestershire. Built by a rival to Henry VIII's throne and visited by Anne Boleyn during the 1535 progress, it is now a luxurious hotel and is one of the only places where you can sleep in the same rooms once occupied by Tudor royalty.

Thanks again for the impeccable introduction to yet another chapter in Tudor history. Any chance you might consider doing a work on places like Northborough manor. I'm madly in love with it from the moment I laid my eye on it. Unfortunately there is not a lot of info on it. It was on the market few years back and hopefully new owners will turn it in to some sort of hospitality destination.
