I use the same method. To answer your question on the gas port -- Use compressed air in the gas tube and blow the crud back into the barrel run some of the wash on some pads to final clean,

Don't look at the mirror. Look where the mirror is touching the rifling and it looks normal. The light reflection is creating an opitical illusion.

It's not an optical illusion. You look at a good cut barrel and it won't look like that.

Hello. What I think you're seeing with the "extra grooves" is the result of a slight difference in the height of the lands or the depth of the grooves depending on how you want to see it. The bullet is engraved less on the short lands and the side of the bullet is rubbing the bottom of the groove. If you follow one groove from end to end you should see the same thing be it an extra groove or not...as long as it cleans up and shoots good probably nothing to be concerned with. I just got my ThorroClean. I will see how it does..
@TinManReloading8 ай бұрын
Yes, this barrel shoots great. I’ll have to look next time I have my bore scope out and follow the grooves. Good luck with the thorro clean!
@blueeyechuck8 ай бұрын
@@TinManReloading Hello again, looks like you were able to scrub out the extra grooves. A good test would be to fire a couple of rounds and see if the "extra groove" starts to develop. It's a little bit of fiddling around but try to "clock" your bore scope to see if it is the same grove each time. My rifles shoot pretty good but after cleaning they seemed to tighten up a bit. My Vudoo was spot on with zero POI shift which is surprising to me.. Good stuff !

Get the barrel wet again. Then take a rubber tipped air gun and blow the gas tube inside the receiver if it bothers you. I like to use compressed air to clean in the receiver and lower to blow everything out. Otherwise 60K psi will make short work of it.
@TinManReloading Жыл бұрын
Ill have to try that. Might even have some computer air duster that might work.
@joeyoutdoors Жыл бұрын
Sorry, I left the same comment. did not read that someone already suggested. The air method through the gas port tube into the barrel works very well. Just remember to run a patch one last time... @@TinManReloading

Nice! That's pretty cool. What bore cam you using? It shows quite a bit. Have you tried chamber maids and a copper /carbine removal tool? I can't remember where I bought the one I had at work. I need to look it up again. But I really need to get a good scope.

Thanks, Tim! Its the Teslong Rigid Rifle Borescope off of Amazon. Plugs right into a laptop or a phone. I havent tried anything other than Hoppes and this stuff. I'm not the most meticulous gun cleaner until I bought this damn borescope 🤣

@@TinManReloading Sweet thanks. I'm in my birth month maybe I can check Midway USA for a discount. Thank you again. (Added later) look up the Kley Zion for their carbon scrapper tool and Beileshi chamber pads. They are both on Amazon and they are what I used at work to clean the chambers. Both were cheap and worked great. The carbon tool is a multi tool. Not only for chambers it works on the bolt and other parts. Great tool. ✌️ and good cleaning.

IMHO it looks like those are wear marks in the grooves between the lands from the projectile as it's leaving down the barrel. It's in the beginning of the rifling and then disappears soon after. Could be from the pressure exerted on the base and it obturates in that area then resumes original shape? Just my guess. Good stuff TinMan
@TinManReloading Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I agree. Probably just weird wear marks. Sixshootertexan had a good point. Don't look in the mirror, look directly at the rifling. It looks normal then. Thanks, GGW!

@@TinManReloading I handload as well and thats freakn outstanding! I ask because I have one bear creek barrel I did a build with and with my hand loads Its shot under 1/2 moa but just barely and I gave very little money for it! It takes my custom barrels like my Lothar Walther to beat it. I dunno if I just got lucky or a barrel from when the button was new who knows. The tool marks left by the hammer forging process is incredibly bad. It's gotta be just ripping the skin off the bullet as it passes through the barrel.

But, it still shoots great! That’s the weird part. I’ve shot plenty of 0.3 MOA groups out of this barrel. I don’t understand it but it works.
