I like the little touch on Thor's head, those pieces of debris that stucks on his head, were from a dead Jotünn named Hrungnir who said to be made out of stone. Thor fought him because Odin invited Hrungnir to the Asgard hall, and won. Although, Thor did shattered the frost giant's head with his beloved hammer, bits of Hrungnir's whetstone and head debris lunged into Thor's head and plunge deep onto his head permanantly, hence the reason why he has those spikes-looking thing in this video. A nice little insight from the animator.

Most of GOW:R Thor's design is on point, but still, while it is accurate and fairly appropriate for him to be built like a bear who's put on weight for fimbulwinter, it is a drastic change compared to his tease at the end of 2018 GOW. Feels like they just threw away the design that Cory Barlog's team left for them. Also seems like there's a small hidden body positivity message. Don't get me wrong, it's good to show people that visibly fat bodies aren't stereotypically negative. Everyone is built different and muscles of a godlike physique aren't everything. But along with making Angrboða black, it feels like we're getting preached at with unrelated politics before the game can teach us its underlying morals and values.

I love the mythologically accurate attention to detail here - Hrungnir's stone still being lodged in his head is great. It's said that Thor's eyes flared red when he was angry, not blue, but otherwise this is perfect. Thor isn't a heartless bastard like he was described in God of War, but he was absolutely ruthless with Mjolnir, this seems pretty accurate EDIT: it's true that he's not necessarily angry here, so the blue eyes get a pass 😅

Interesting how they reserved the “Hold hand out to recall” for Kratos and gave Thor this fancy “Snap fingers to tell Mjolnir where to go”. During one transition from their opening battle, Thor summons the hammer from his waist to float in front of his face to block an attack from Kratos.
@nimifisch.6134 Жыл бұрын
It's shown that he can recall it without snapping his fingers (when he was drunk he didn't snap but it did come to him) so it might be implied he just does it for 'showmanship' or something Might have ust just forgotten to add it in Still a really cool detail

@onebitedino1765 Жыл бұрын
@@ohyeayea68 Again, are you high? Because your reply just convinced me you are, not the opposite. “Didn’t do anything” fought Kratos, stopped Heimdall, helped Atreus, plus the Bar scene, did you even play the game? He didn’t do anything “important”to the plot(which is completely false btw) that’s the point. Odin is the one who does everything to push the plot forward because he’s the mastermind and Thor is the pawn. Thor isn’t involved without Odin’s say so, which is a core part of his character. Who cares if he wasn’t brutal, that shit would serve no purpose; GOW is a Video Game dude.“He wasn’t an imposing threat” he wasn’t imposing when he fought Kratos? Or threatened Heimdall? I think what's scary is thinking why Thor needed to personally go down and attack these mortals. (At least I think they are.) Instead of sending lesser goons like Magni, Modi (if the two are still alive in this storyboard) or Thrud or heck even some Valkyries or even some Einherjar are probably enough, Odin decides to send his best man to deal with some lowly mortals, so they must've really pissed Odin off.

This is actually the Thor you can expect in GoW: Ragnarok. Viscous, powerful, and bigger body structure. Hopefully he's got a bit more clothes on, than what we saw in the released teaser concept of him, but either way, he's gonna be a tough BOY. I hope that he's very similar to this stunning animation, great job!
