"Those Were the Days" is a song credited to Gene Raskin, composed by Boris Fomin with words by the poet Konstantin Podrevsky. It deals with reminiscence upon youth and romantic idealism. It also deals with tavern activities, which include drinking, singing and dancing.
The Alexandrov Ensemble is an official army choir of the Russian armed forces. Founded during the Soviet era, the ensemble consists of a male choir, an orchestra, and a dance ensemble.
Special thanks to my great russin friend, Twinklethorne, for the lyrics

An excerpt of this song has been used since 1981 in the "Programa Silvio Santos", in a section called "Show de Calouros", this same Silvio Santos, where his real name was Senor Abravanel who founded his own television station, the "Sistema Brasileiro de Televisão" or simply "SBT" unfortunately the king of Brazilian TV passed away on August 17th, we will never forget him, eternal Silvio Santos

FUCKING EXCELLENT! i am not russian but my mom showed me a version of this song from her youth when i was growing up, i was already a fan of the Red Army Choir, magnificent, boistrous bastards! 😄 i hoped this would be a more "roaring" version being made by them, than what i was raised with and it doesn't fucking disappoint! it makes my heart want to roar like a Lion🦁 and yowl like one in pain 😈💪

There is a deep pain of both joy and sadness that this song makes well up from the heart, and though I am an American I can still appreciate the noble and beautiful, soulful qualities that Russians had maintained which the west has since lost. Such is the terrible fate of the Russian people to be under the heel of sociopaths and tyrants! One day I do hope the bitterness of a century and more of distrust and sabotage will be cleared away and East and west may embrace like lost brothers, and we may both be free from our oppressors, and move into a free and prosperous world together. Until then stay strong, and fight for your freedom, as we fight for ours against bureaucrat and Oligarch and criminal and ideologue alike, together!

The days of the soviet union were the glory days for the ruaaian people and nobody else in the union or the warsaw pact. Thw rusification of the SSR's and the atrocities were frankly terrible, but its not like it was the only time where people were persecuted or driven from theirs homes. Being a communist or even accused of it may have gotten you beat up or killed by the opps or pretty anyone who did like it which was pretty fair seeing the example of a socialist state was very flawed in almost every aspect and had to claw its way out most situations like WW2 amd Afghanistan. But in general the music made in or during the time of the soviet union was truely a golden age in russia music. Like the second waltz, and those were the days and many more.
