We thought similar about van life in London, however after having to stay for work we found it super easy! North London (Theobalds Park Camping and Caravanning club) was great and a 20min walk to overground. We also found that Watford was a great area for wild camping with a friendly community, lots of park ups and on the tube line! Currently I'm working in Windsor and have found this area to be the best for wild camping with links still to london. Windsor has a designated campervan park up thats free overnight (with water tap 😉) and right in the town centre - I highly recommend 👌

Glad you enjoyed yourselves so much! I live a short distance from the Lea Valley campsite. Although the site itself is a bit barren, a quick glance at the satellite view of the area will show you that it’s part of a huge wetlands park, with large reservoirs and a navigable canal, (River Lee or Lea), leading down to the Thames. Where you have a navigation, you have a tow path which can be a great walking or cycling route, always flat and away from roads.
@woomeebly2 жыл бұрын
I can't wait! Next summer i want to take my kayak out and navigate the rivers, starting with the river i grew up by, the lea. i'll be camping on the banks and documenting it. Will also bring me wetsuit and have a lil swim if safety(and absence of raw sewage!) allows it.

Oh my! The Lea Valley campsite is in Edmonton, the town I grew up in. There used to be Picketts Lock leisure centre there (I used to go drinking at the golf range bar) and the cinema and a restaurant was built in front of the centre to make it a more leisure complex. I moved away in 2002 and they apparently pulled down Picketts Lock and built the athletics centre for the 2012 olympics.

In my day we went to see Queen at Hammersmith playing the Night at the Opera album and Alex Harvey and in 1986 The Boss at Wembley I will never forget that like seeing a preacher baring his soul and playing rock and roll. You can’t beat music and singers and bands for bringing connection and inspiration. Van Morrison has also written a lot of amazing moving spiritual songs. Great video. Thank you both. Having been born and grown up in Woolwich, I really smiled when you started to panic about finding yourselves heading towards the Woolwich Free Ferry - and where it would take you! I'm old enough to remember going on the paddle steamer ferry boats back in the mid 1950s and being taken down to the engine rooms to see the massive workings thundering away as we prepared to leave the loading ramps. A real treat for a kid - and we just went to the other side and back several times before going home. I was always told that it was the only free ferry in the world. Is that still the case I wonder? Keep up the good work Janine and Liam and greetings from Bodmin Moor - a long way from south London.

Last time I stayed in London to see a show was in 2006 and was with a group of colleges (company paid for it as a long service award) in a five star hotel very noisy outside. I never knew that there was camp sites in London. If you ever travel north along the A1 when you reach Biggleswade turn left at the Sainsbury's roundabout follow road to next roundabout and on your right you will see G M Growers they don't do ready meals but proper fresh vegetables which judging by Liam's cooking he would appreciate.

It's where North & South Circular Roads meet, the western equivalent is a boring old bridge. They keep saying they're going to scrap it but as soon as they make moves someone takes them to Court. I think there's some ancient law saying there's got to be a crossing at that point but a bridge wasn't possible till the 20th Century & then it was too expensive, now there's an airport in the way.

What a fun video! I wonder if the clean air and dirty air just respect one another's zones? 😆 I realize it's about emissions of course still makes me laugh. Anyway glad to see ya'll having so much fun.

Great Video, so much going on in it, Looks like you had a really good time down in London, as you was a little unsure at first. The first campsite looked amazing. Having all those trees around you, helps you to forget you are in the city. I was very impressed at how cheap it was, you could possibly pay more elsewhere for the same thing. No doubt you shall return at some stage...🙂👍🏻

Hello Janine and Liam, great video, there's definitely a few Tesco car parks you can stay at in London. I've been a Londoner all my life but have recently moved out , parakeets sound nice but they're not a native bird species to England and they attack and kill the native birds . Miracles do happen and what a miracle about symposium, glad you both had a good evening and got back safely. Safe travels.
