In this video you witness my wife's growth as a Metallica fan. Last year she barely knew the band or anything about their music but she is finding her way on her journey.
Leave request down below and stick around for the end of the video to see her first introduction to this song.

I know a lot of the Metallica purists don’t like it, the the entire Black album is so damn good. One of the few albums I can listen to from start to finish without disliking a single song.

Haha, I guess I'm a Metallica purist...that said, I hold nothing against that album and its fans. Bands sometimes wish to change things up, and that's their right. How does that take anything away from the older material I'm in love with? Not at all. And, this is indeed a fantastic song, with a great message about freedom. Sad But True is my other favorite from that album.

@@captaincapitalism264 I’m sure a lot of it is that the black album was my first exposure to Metallica. When I heard their earlier stuff later, at first I was like, “WTF is this?” and wrote it off as me not liking their early work. It wasn’t until many years later that I started listening to it again and now I love it.

@@dsboyce1977 Time has a way of doing that for us, doesn't it? I heard Slayer in '84 but wrote it off as too thrashy -- I was headlong into hair metal at that point. Fast forward 6 years, I start playing guitar myself, and I'm all over Slayer's & Metallica's older material like crazy, hehe.

Hey T and Tasha, enjoying your reactions. Might I suggest an old Country song that you would love. I don't think you have done any from this artist, David Ball, before. He had many great hits, but my favorite is "Riding with Private Malone". It can tug on the heart strings just a bit, but it is a feel good song overall.

That Is bohemian intro sound you're hearing was Kirk Playing a sitar instrument and Jason playing a 12 string bass guitar for the big bong sound.

On guitar is Kirk Hammett...he replaced Dave Mustaine when the band cut Dave loose in '83; just before recording their first album. As you may know; Dave went on to form Megadeth. First time I saw them was in SF in early '83 with Dave on guitar and Cliff on bass. Didn't know who they were or their names then. But they blew me and three others in our band away. I bought that first album as soon as I saw it...when shopping for FANG's Landshark album. Got them both the same day.

Kill Em All stands the test of time, so many awesome tracks. Listening to their entire discography, you can definitely hear the roots of things to come on later albums. But that was pure, savage thrash at its finest. It, and Ride The Lightning are my 2 favorites overall.

Same here. I saw them before they recorded their first album; bought their first later that year...and the "Black/Metallica" album was the last I bought.

Very very intuitive to what you said about even though you can be surrounded by people, you still can be alone. Suicidal tendencies has a song that touches on this exact same feeling. The song is called "Alone", check it out?

It's an effect on the guitar. It's called a sitar or Ravi effect. Edit: the intro.

A great first time listen review, well done! Really astute on the intro instrumentation being of arabic nature & interpretation of vocals. Great wahwah solo! You're not alone in struggling to define why 'tallica are better than the rest - they just make you feel more. Mudderdeath suck

You guys are awesome and a cute couple. In this video and led zep in my time of dying you're getting some audible back ground noise in the quiet moments sounds like a compression going on like a weird static or hiss. Just a heads up

This is the last Metallica album I liked, after this one, they became the Artists Formerly Known As Metallica. A Year and a Half in the Life of Metallica. It's a video of them making this album, and has the 5 videos from the singles they released from the album for the radio.
