From the characters to the concepts they are dealing with and the widening rabbit hole the narrator is falling into it is all very impressive. There is so much potential here. Oop, it suddenly looks like the two other comments that were here before vanished. But in the meantime I've looked at some of the other comments here and (trying to maybe keep the information more or less in one easy-to-find place) they're speculating about the name Symaza being the leader of the Nephilim... which, according to the Bible (with some interpretation) were the giant offspring of angels who mated with humans and were cast down as punishment for this. Considering the bloodline thing mentioned, Aleric may be looking for an angelic/ divine bloodline, and his Frankenstein monster may have been a different attempt to achieve a giant (critter was over 7 feet tall after all) and perhaps replicate whatever effect they're looking for that way.

Yes and much is also very much exaggeration. Many mythological tribes of brutal giants are probably relicts of forgotten conflicts between one tribe of people and another tribe of people, who could have been just a little bit taller as the other tribe... or maybe they were not even tall, but just very strong and after some generations the descendants of the other tribe would tell stories of a tribe of taller and more monstrous warriors, who after more generations would become taller and taller as well as more inhuman and mythical. And in other situations it really just could be "Me but bigger", when people want to represent that a historic figure, mythical being or personification of nature is important and powerfull.

While we’re on the topic of giants, do you think you can do a video documenting one of history’s most gargantuan monsters? I am of course talking about the Behemoth! I’d imagine the Behemoth to be a species of pachyderm possibly an offshoot of the Mastodon that has adapted far out of reach of the humans that once hunted them. They probably would live there lives high up in the mountains of both Europe, Asia, and North Africa. They probably are able to communicate with each other from long distance with loud bellowing roars. These roars can be made at different frequencies as well, such as the classic trumpeting sound which they primarily use to scare off predators and (In the case of a male Behemoth.) to intimidate rivals. They also can drop that down low to communicate from long distance. These calls are in fact so low that humans are unable to hear it. This is the primary reason why they went undetected by humans for so long. They can also make high pitched calls by pinching the front ends of their trunk together. I’d also imagine that they live in small to medium sized herds consisting mostly of one alpha male and several females plus there calves. Most male behemoths are usually kicked out of the herd when they reach a certain age, and move to find a herd of there own. This is why most behemoth attacks on humans are lone males that have either just left the herd or have been ousted by another male in a fight.

Vrykolakas; Rare cases of double infection by a pair of viruses that alter the genetics of their host, legends mention that "like wolves they walked on all fours" and depending on the source it was said that they "returned" as direwolves/werewolves. Cambion; half-demons whose only power is attractiveness (financial, sexual and or social), the legends said that succubi after "collecting" the semen would pass or become an incubus that there "places" in a woman, in this case I would say it would be a type of parasite similar to cuckoos.

I really enjoy these videos, going into how myth _could_ be possible. So many things chalked up to legend are pretty reasonable if you think about it. Like, a unicorn is just a horse with a horn on it's head. Bigfoot could be one of those giant ground sloths. And even the phoenix could've been a real bird- one that made a nest in recently burned areas. There's a beetle that does just that; so why not a bird?

The "giants" in my book have what I call a dual engine circulatory system. Basically they have two hearts. They also have much longer and more densely muscular legs and feet with their feet resembling an almost elephant like foot structure. They also have specially adapted bones that are much more dense but the inner bone has a spring/sponge like material that under heavy load can compress instead of breaking. Giving it a higher tensile strength while also having much more flexibility in load bearing. I'm no where near an expert in biology so this is all mostly just author-mumbo-jumbo, but I would love any suggestions if anyone has any. Please, allow me to utilize your mental labor for free. Once I publish the book I'll write your name on the front cover. It'll be in microscopic text but nevertheless..it'll be there. Lol. Oh and they also have a "fused ribcage" which I call a "ribshield" so.. yeah.

Potential Spoilers Below! . . . . . So the Giants are the Nephlim, polydactyly being one of their main traits other than size and power. Project Starfall is linked to recreating a bloodline, potentially of non-human origin that intermixed with early humanity. Kind of like ancient aliens and the Annunaki. God I love this series!

Hi Thought Potato! Sincerely I thought to have been pleasurably shocked by the subject of the last video, but this one got me too. I didn't expect you could possibly track the Legends of the Giants ... Good for us that, as always You, came out with a surprise. Aside from the similarities with biblical legends of seven-fingered giants, from what I perceived from your video, the formation of a sixth phalange could have proven useful to grant a wider surface area to their feet, proving useful for balance and sustaining their own weight (being spread across generations and becoming a common feature of the species), am I correct? Since I didn't recall You addressed these creatures I suppose there is not yet a name for this new branch of Hominids evolution (something like Homo Golyat or Homo Giganteus) ... maybe there is something more we need to uncover before to get it? I really hope that in the future there will be some other references to this creature in other videos, since as You recalled, the Myths of Red-haired Giants are Worldwide spread, from the Mid-East and Northern Europe to the Solomon Islands ... I was wondering if You would like to talk about the so-called "Immortals" of the game Sekiro; more precisely the corrupted ones, who drank the rejuvenating waters and became infected by a vicious parasite. I think the various stages and forms taken by these beings inside a human body could prove to be an interesting challenge for You. I'd like to write You some more if that's ok for You. PS Aside from this I really wanted to apologize to You if I wrote you too much (or something wrong) on the P platform. Thanks for this new gift! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! My best Regards to You!

I love that you utilize actual old folklore and archeology as inspiration! I watched a video by Miniminutemen (aka Milo) and he went through the history of Lovelock cave. You captured the folklore ideas and exaggerations of oral history while making it feel more solid and based in reality.

Your videos are what inspired me to create a homebrew setting for d&d with more realistic and biological monsters. I included giants as a playable species and came to similar conclusions as to how they’re biology might differ to account for the size. They get +2 to strength and constitution but a -2 to dexterity. Great minds think alike I guess 😂. Keep up the good work, and maybe orcs next? I’d love to see if your ideas match mine or not.

This series is one of the most creative and imaginative series on KZbin. It's a wonderful exploration of mythology through a scientific lens and has inspired me to begin to think about how other creatures would function within this world, of all of them, there is none I want to see explored more than the scourge of Scandinavia, The Troll: My idea for a Troll in your world would be a giant bear that has evolved rudimentary bipedalism, the bear is slow and lumbering and is inactive for the first half of the year, leading to its grey fur to become moss covered and green like some sloths (thus explained the grass covered depiction of rock trolls, perhaps some even.grow saplings on there fur). It's fur is matted down with a secreted oil that hardens the fur, leading to stories of trolls being made of stone and turning Into rocks in delight. Trolls, for a mix of reasons such as predation, lack of camouflage and lack of prey, will shy away from Daylight and are most active during winter when the days are at their shortest. Trolls hibernate during summer and spend most of their lives in caves, come winter they feast on the food stores and animals that hibernate through the cold winter months, as well as the occasional unlucky Human traveller as an occasional food source.

I find it interesting that in eyewitness reports of Sasquatch, people commonly mention the breath being unusually loud, clearly audible from such a distance that they are regularly assumed to be closer to the witness before a visual could be detected than they actually were, & often sounding extremely congested... as if suffering from fluid in the lungs or some other kind of respiratory illness- & here you've said that you might expect the occurrence of such an affliction in at least some members, I presume, belonging to a population of giant humans or giant humanoid-shaped bodies. Yet, I suspect that the average person who has & perhaps even the majority of those who have allegedly experienced seeing/encountering a Sasquatch are likely entirely unaware of why the large humanoid they claimed to have seen exhibited such a characteristic that may make a fair amount of sense to someone who's familiar enough with relevant fields of biological science.

one possible explanation from were these creatures may have evolved could very well be in the period in which the humans and the mermaids have split, perhaps a third group began to move in northen lands near the coast, and might aswell be the ones that shared their habitat with the sirenus, the increase in size could actually be an adaptation to better survive encounters with the latter: a larger frame and thicker bones allowed for more striking power without causing that many troubles in the costal waters, were the encounters between the 2 species happened, the increase in white muscolar fibers might have been advantageous to fight back or outrun the attackers in the land, after all the sirenus anatomy doesn't allow for particularly effective movement on land, and even though they presented a lower mobility than most humans they were still far more efficient than the sirens. eventually, during the ice age they probably moved out from the water to better handle the cold and some might have even redeveloped a thick fur, becoming the widely known Yeti. this of course is all speculation, further evidence is required to prove said hypothesies, but it is still intriguing to think about the topic

I know my comment is late to the party but considering the crossover series you recently started with werewolf's, vampires and zombies maybe you could include a Giant Wendigo too? Both exist as a part of Native American folklore that the ever mysterious "researcher" looked into so maybe you could even tell a story of one that's been found in the wild. Vampire Strigoi would be cool too as I'd essentially make nosferatu xD, anyway great video fellow potato. Can't wait for the next one
