This movie was to me what "Journey Beyond Sodor" was to The Unlucky Tug, an unpleasant glimpse into future of Thomas & Friends, and just as I predicted, those fears were confirmed in S22, and I haven't watched a new episode or season since.

I honestly think that the issue was that Mattel was trying too hard to keep up with some of the other kids shows. If they really were having trouble with keeping the show going in the first place, why couldn't they just have gone back to using the original source material, The Railway Series? And if they couldn't do that (which I genuinely can't think of any reasons why they couldn't/wouldn't) then a series finale movie would've sufficed easily. This is a really interesting concept but it really should have just gone to another show.

I think the best finale Railway Series-wise would definitely be Christopher Awdry's "Thomas and his Friends" in 2011, so if Brenner wanted to focus on other projects, why didn't he come up with adapting them in the first place? It may be bittersweet (and for children, heartbreaking), it'd be a proper sendoff, which would make BWBA more bittersweet and somewhat more tolerable.

I stopped watching the CGI series because of this current situation by Mattel, but I have high hopes that Mattel will remember that Awdry created Edward Gordon and Henry as the very first Thomas characters. Now where's Edward and Henry now? If Nia and Rebecca become the NWR 2 and 3, then I'll be so fucking pissed. Then again, I have high hopes that Edward and Henry will come back on the 75th anniversary, and from that point on. Also, about Season 24, Emily was given the number 12. Before that happened, we fans had been doing the same thing to Emily. So several years later, our wish came true (for those who decided to give Emily that number). Also, on Discord, someone told us that Mattel, including Thomas and Friends, is going to be bought by Hasbro. But can Hasbro undo what Mattel has done? We'll probably find out after Season 24.

The Miller-area ending really got our hopes up. We even had some previously RS-exclusive characters and even episodes based on book stories with Andrew Brenner. And then this happened. Journey beyond Sodor: vehicles start jumping and some clever people could already smell where this was going to go. And then they kicked out Edward, Henry and Toby, replacing them with Nia and Rebecca. What was that for? More female characters? There already are many other unused characters and many female characters are among them. A new female express engine could've just been Molly or something (thinking of her because yellow), kids don't know her anyway.

I’m kinda fond of some of the episodes, namely Hunt The Truck, James-centered episodes in general (except for Apology Impossible), and Thomas and the Inventor’s Workshop. There’s definitely some minor improvements as time goes on, but it’s definitely getting better, realism and pacing aside.

i agree the "new" writers have literary thrown Thomas & Friends reputations out the window because it is now a toddler show and all of the old fans has been there for Thomas since like the classic series, the classics series like seasons 1-7 ik they were 4:30 but the story's are not basic and boring unlike season 22-23 all of the old friends hate it because if you compare it to the classic series there is a big difference, i don't mind the CGI but the episodes needs to be within the reputations of Thomas and friends, i also love how they add new engines there cool but i would also love if they can add the old characters back that would be cool

Agreed, seasons 1-7 Were like awesome and are like the Bible for the fan base. 8-11 were not as good, some episodes just had one new character come and then he/she is never seen again or is a cameo in a later episode. 12 was a bit odd (When I first saw it) then there was Hero of the Rails which was, okay. But then after that 13-16 was trashy episode after trashy episode after trashy episode and Misty Island Rescue is really fought over with people, some like it but a lot don't. (I'm not saying it's wrong to like it) then 17-21 was a comeback and people began to like it more I even started to come back watching Thomas more. But then the writers just had to screw up the comeback and made this all because Feminazis and Soccer moms wanted more Girl Power. (There are already shows with females as main characters why did you need to do this to Thomas?) Well, if Mattel realizes they lost 60% of their watch base by doing this well, they had it coming. (Says the guy who was born when Season 8 was going on) I guess I can safely say that I'd rather watch a Cab ride set(or two), America by Rail, My Little Pony, or some sort of Anime series than this. The writers made 1 step forward then 3 steps back all for the feminists and the money.

I'm kind of disappointed they never took advantage of the fact that Thomas, is technically one of the rarest steam locomotives in Great Britain, due to his class (the London, Brighton and South Coast E2) being pretty much extinct on British rail. And with Thomas getting lost on the mainland, and everything going on in Journey Beyond Sodor, I honestly could imagine some enthusiasts catching on about him, and therefore go to Sodor with a proposition to the fat controller, to do some sort of global tour, as part of some railway preservation charity, or something. And BOOM. You've got yourself an interesting set-up, that could actually give some interesting information to teach to the kiddies in the audience.

BWBA was very underwelming. However it isn't a total disaster. Certain moments like the fish truck behind the express, Ground control to major thomas (Which I also think was a nod to the guy that sent a wooden Stanley to space) were both clever and hilarious. No matter how bad Mattell screws up Thomas, Brenner can still sneak good bits behind Mattell's back but at the same time Mattell are really basically making Brenner a slave forcing this kind of crap hence why we still get gems here and there in the current era. Also the international engine renders were very lazy. Like cmon you couldn't model Natalie as something like an EMD SW1, Just take the side skirts off of Mavis, model different wheel trucks and bam. or that other american shunter which looks like Frankie, Few tweaks and you got a Baldwin S12! Not rocket science nor is it too hard! I mean they modeled the friggin Jupiter 4-4-0 for Beau but were too lazy to do anything else? Same goes with the other international engines that pop up in the special. History repeats itself where the writers and even the animators lose steam and we fall into another dark hell hole in the show... only to hopefully be saved once again by a companent company.

Fire Dust Say what you will about TATMR, but at the very least there were still some great things about it. Diesel 10 is a great character, it’s probably the best looking thing to come out of the model series imo (at least I’m terms of the footage), the soundtrack is great, the chase scene, and even the writing can be good at times. Yeah the story is bad, it’s very unrealistic, Thomas and his friends are barely in it, and the whole story is a mess, but to me at least it’s just kinda middle of the road. BWBA had an interesting idea on paper, but it just failed in its execution. It’s painfully unoriginal (not the first time Thomas left Sodor), most of the characters are bland and unoriginal, it failed to introduce a character who would play a major role in the new episodes (seriously Nia could be an interesting character but she has very little personality or substance), the sets look dead and lifeless, ace is honestly one of the worst characters in the entire series, oh and it basically planted the seed of the worst era of TTTE.

I think the reason why Nia and Rebecca are created (like the female characters) is because it's regarding women's rights. They probably wanted to avoid feminism to be fair. Like what Victor Tanzig said, Mattel has to support the new fans, so they can keep going. However, they can't alienate the older ones, which is the tricky part. If the fans can entertain both the old and the new, why can't Mattel?

What should've happened is one of two things. A) Have Nia and Rebecca take Thomas and Percy's places at Tidmouth Sheds so that way Edward and Henry could still be main characters, and just have Thomas and Percy bunk with Toby at Ffarquar sheds like in Series 2. B) Remember how in "Calling All Engines", they built a new shed for Emily? Why not just do that with Nia and Rebecca?

In my opinion: I like the concept of Thomas going around the world (it was a pretty good concept), i don’t mind Nia, the song where is the world is thomas is my favorite from the movie, ace scene to the reverend, the fish trucks scene, and there are some other good moments in the movie I can’t think of, but I hate the writing, i can’t stand ace, and how Mattel is handling the series after season 21 I hate. They really wanna remove Edward and Henry for female characters which is big simp move. The writing is awful, Thomas was such a fucking asshole again, and ace IS SO FUCKING ANNOYING imo. But I do like the concept of Thomas traveling around the world, the fantasy are ok, not a fan of the international episodes, etc. Bouncing I don’t mind if you don’t pay attention to it, but if you really pay attention to the bouncing it’s so annoying. Final verdict: better than Misty Island Rescue and Day of the diesels but not better than The Great Race and kinda Journey Beyond Sodor (still debating if BWBA is better than JBS). Overall it’s a 4/10 for me.

I feel Wilbert Awdrey wouldn't like this as he was trying to create a railway series and Sodor was distinctly based on the Irish sea between Isle of man and Britain. The TV series only acknowledged this in series one when Henry got sent to Crewe. After that places like London was referred to as the big city so the capital could be any country. And by series 7 magic became a thing! Awdrey did say he didn't like the Henry's Forest episode due to how dense it was around the railway. His stories were educational about railways and Thomas has overshadowed his legacy.

I get where you're going with this statement, but to someone who grew up with Thomas and friends I feel the farthest I'll go is Journey beyond Sodor and season 21, again just my opinion, with JBS, yeah they bounce, but it's not to a ridiculous amount, and as for some of the episodes (like the for mentioned "Duck's School house") were fairly decent, but episodes like "Seeing is believing" I never had any satisfaction especially said episode, since Merlin doesn't show up a lot and that was a huge let down, since Merlin is one of my favorite characters from JBS, that episode could of been decent (not great but definitely not bad) where Merlin goes around sodor pretending he's invisible whenever he let's out steam, and yet I feel like they just shoehorned him into the episode, as for the special itself... let me just said I was mixed with emotion (mostly bad one) (and no I didn't watched it) and yeah there are times where I sometimes don't focus on realism, but I feel like they took that way to far, overall, I respect your opinion and I shall accept your opinion.

For me honestly I totally agree with you, BWBA isn't as bad as I expected but I had very low expections and was just the most middle ground special, it's not like Shoaron Miller era media but it's just a very averge and harmless special, it doesn't take risks and and there is just zero subtance to it. It only feels like a tool and just a distraction for a child's amusment. It doesn't achieve much and is really just a tv ad for this and the televison's show merchadise. It is better than what I and most of the fandom thought but it really feels oainfully harmless and empthy. It's like a year where nothing bad has happened but no highlights occur. For me BWBA special and series are not at a Miller era point and definatly feel much better and are way more creative and humorus than 8-16, they don't have that awful dialogue and recyled plots and repeative morals as many episodes now are different and include many charcters and some have great plots and humor, but really it just it is a huge downgrade from what we had a few years ago and feels like the whole writing team was replaced. It isn't painful and godfully horrible but that is the only good troop as it still has galring issues and I find less enjoyment or care for the shows direction as everything is painfully meh and middleground. It just says that , "oh we are different but at least we aren't that bad" but don't improve and Mattels incompatence, honestly makes me feel that Mattel don't love or care for it's direction and milk the remaining profits of it and when said profits are finshed , they will cancel the show or sell it off. It may not happen for a while or at all this is just my asumption, but everything since season 22 just feel so averge, great vid!

Imagine Thomas being abducted by a North Korean locomotive while he's in China. A massive tone shift from a whacky adventure to a more grounded "why you shouldn't just run away" story. While in NK he's paraded around, him and his crew forced to work at gunpoint in really bad conditions. Ransom demands are sent. Thomas tries to talk sense into the engine that abducted him, but there is too big of a difference in ways of thinking. Or so it seems, because he does get through, and the abductor starts thinking about things. Then there comes a chance to escape, and he takes it. Escaping to South Korea over that one railway bridge through the DMZ while being chased by the abductor and shot at. He almost makes it across, but derails on the old and damaged tracks just meters from the border. The abductor's crew tries stopping him, but the abductor decides to help Thomas and overpowers them, pushing Thomas across. Then, either the abductor goes across as well and is hailed a hero, coming to Sodor with Thomas (replacing Nia in the story), or gets stuck on the north side and is scrapped on site. A message of selfless sacrifice, of a change of heart, and of breaking the programming and thinking for yourself. You could even work that one destroyed loco on display near the DMZ into the story. And of course the very tense military standoff as Thomas (and possibly the abductor, depending on the outcome of above) is put on a flatbed. It would be a fucking awesome story arc. Too bad the witers have no balls. Oh and Sir Topham is pissed, and puts Thomas on static display for a few years. Maybe. I came up with this in like 15 minutes. Come on writers. 10.000 years of constant storytelling evolution to create a spineless fucking toy commercial. Oh my god what is wrong with them.

Honestly thats a difficult decision because without the rhyming and incompetence of Thomas, I think MIR has a really epic story. I think technically MIR is better in my opinion but again thats like comparing being shot or stabbed to death. Day of the Diesels is my least favorite but thats mainly because it was boring until the third act.

I haven't looked much into Nia's character, but if she's sarcastic, then I guess she has some merits. Personally, I was under the assumption that she was nothing special. Just there and not contributing much. I know there might be others who think differently, but I see Rebecca as one of the best (if not the best) characters introduced prior to Marvelous Machinery. While I see how she is annoying, she's a really fun and goodnatured character! In spite of that, I don't want her on the Steam Team. I like her as a reoccurring engine (particularly on both the mainline and Thomas' branch line), but her design clashes with the other original members of the team. Emily falls under a similar problem. Also, if anyone were to state that Duck is part of the team, I will suggest that Duck is more of the oddball/honorary member of the group. It also helps that he's part of the Little Western, which is its own faction. Personally, Emily is a better fit for the Little Western. As for Toby, he falls under a similar situation and is part of Thomas' branch line. Now, if they must add more female engines to the Steam Team, I think Rosie is a better fit. Not only has her personality improved, but her design also meshes with the other engines. One other suggestion I have is making Tidmouth Sheds not the exclusive resting area of the Steam Team. Instead, it allows all engines to rest there, so we could see both guest engines and the return of Edward and Henry.

They might end or reboot the series? I don't necessarily think either of those would be easy, I think the best possible way they could do this is some kinda change up. Maybe mix things up a bit, for example have Tomas and them actually go over some things from the past, for example the train falling off the bridge maybe give the show a less bubbley tone at points and make it darker at those parts.

Mattel feels the need to appease this new generation of kids who cannot stay interested in things for more than 5 seconds. So, to try and keep kids "interested" They keep injecting the show with more energy. Personally, I feel like its very out of place in a show like Thomas. Thomas was always one of the more relaxed and down to earth shows. It still had its crazy moments, but there were less of them and because of that they had a greater impact (Thomas and the Jet Engine for an example) But the show is just jacked up with so much energy in every episode now that it just feels like watching TV static. It's loud, its crazy, and its in your face. I can see the appeal for younger audiences more used to other kids shows, but it breaks my heart to see the show I grew up with being flipped on its head into something it was never designed for.

I'm fine with there being fast-paced TV shows(I even have some favorites), but there also needs to be slower-paced shows to balance them out and, in the words of Mr. Rogers, give kids a place to slow down and relax. If every single kids show was super fast-paced, kids will eventually burn out, even in this fast-paced world they're being raised in. And that's ignoring the fact that not all kids like fast paced shows.
