I made a video about a month ago about Loving our Parkinson’s body and wanted to remind people that you are handsome and beautiful - and while this is a great reminder I started to think HOW can we actually feel that way about ourselves? HOW can we feel sexy or attractive with Parkinson's disease? It's a complicated question because I can't think of anyone who would say that this is a sexy disease. But we can feel sexy and attractive with Parkinson's, and should remember that even without PD self confidence, loving our bodies and feeling attractive is something we all struggle with. These are my thoughts on feeling sexy or attractive with Parkinson's disease.

I have had Parkinson’s now for 10 years and I have been married for 46 years. Although Parkinson’s can make everything more challenging, i feel my best when I look my best and I always want to look beautiful for my husband. Exercise helps me keep my body in shape. I love pampering myself with regular manicures and pedicures and an occasional massage and facial. I try to focus on activities that add joy in my life to make this experience less difficult. You are such a beautiful lady. Thank you for being so honest and candid about your journey. Real talk!💕 I

This video is just what I needed to hear at the moment! While I am in a long term relationship, that doesn’t mean I don’t still need to feel I’m attractive. Thanks for daring to tackle another difficult subject, Jennifer!🙂

I'm 58 years old and recently divorced. I just started dating using dating apps and I think I've found so far that my parkinson's is not as big of a issue as I thought it would be. But I was just diagnosed a few years ago and my symptoms are very mild. I disclose right up front in my profile that I have PD. But I admit that I don't have the confidence to think that I am a great catch like I used to.

I’m trying so hard not to mention “saggy elbows “ but I can’t…….I’m sure Brian doesn’t mind your elbows, saggy or not!

@parkinsonswigglesproject thanks for once again for hitting the nail on the head. Feeling down is a big bummer. For a while I was letting it get to me. Then I remembered that nobody needs another Debby Downer. I try to make the most of every moment. Keep making the videos and I’ll keep watching them even if a few months later. Like Trae Crowder says, “I love you like chicken “.

Great! To paraphrase Herbert 'Dressing well is the best revenge'. And I love your point about not paying attention to what other people might think - every time I come down my steps onto the busy street where I live I'm so self conscious about my wobbly first steps and am looking out for people seeing me - I shall try to be more self contained from tomorrow...

Self-confidence is good. In my 20s, it didn't take long for dates to realize I had an odd tremor issue. So we would go out on a date, and my date was the one to get beers from the bar as I spilled too much walking back to the table. Thankfully, when I met my first wife, we lived in Germany. Short work weeks, low stress, and long vacations meant few symptoms. Two kids, divorced, no rush to ever date again. Met someone who was divorced, also with two kids. Dated for a year, and we married. The thing she always thought was odd is I wouldn't say I liked holding hands when walking (stiff shoulder). Massage is a necessity! My LMT will remind me, "did you take your meds?" Dystonia and massage, oh, I need those meds.

I'm in my sixties, but I'm aware you're a lot younger, and I know pd has been an additional impact for that reason. I was only diagnosed this year, so down the road I'm sure I'll be having these thoughts about my body, but I know it's not the same as when a person is young. I can't say I'm happy about my body for other reasons right now, and that has bothered me. I'm getting better, but I've been ill for much of this past year and it really has taken a toll. Antibiotics saved me but beat me up at the same time, and I really am showing it. I don't have any content on my channel, but I wouldn't make a video right now if somebody paid me. I will, but not right now. I know this isn't the same as your concerns about dyskinesias. I wish I had a better thing to say so it would connect.

I 100% agree with how you focus on yourself and not let yourself be bothered by how people react or think. I also agree that people need to love themselves first before entering a relationship. I love how your hubby had the lightbulb go off in his head. Great outlook and advice! Keep it coming.

Great video as usual. I really look forward to your videos. Great subject. I often find myself playing the “Parky” card a little to much and blaming every thing on my new diagnosis. I really liked your point that we need to accept where we are and look to the future self not the old self. I used to run a lot to keep in shape, now I can’t run so I have had to adapt to other ways to keep in shape. I have also stopped working and I have had to build a new identity in that area in my life. It all can be a little much, but folks like you have really helped me to keep my confidence up. thx again for all that you do.
