I think you are doing great right now. After being in a toxic situationship, I waited for 2 years until I met a person who is good for me and I'm good for him. What you need is to heal and get yourself together and not to jump on another relationship. Trust the process ❤️

I 100% agree!! I was married for 23 years. Divorce was final in September 2022. He remarried in October. I have to make sure I am healed before i enter into another relationship. I have to take care of myself before I can take care of someone else.

Exactly. My husband and I got married at a B&B, only had 3 people there and it was romantic. We had a hot tub in our room, a fireplace at the foot of the bed and a private entrance to our room. We went on a horse and carriage ride and a drive in zoo. It was so romantic.

They actually say that the more a wedding costs the more likely it won’t last. But not sure if that’s true. My wedding was on a budget and I loved every minute. 11 years married this year. When you are with the one you are meant to be with you just know and marriage comes naturally. If you keep putting it off etc it means it’s not right. That’s my opinion anyway

I just got out of a toxic marriage with a 5 year old son and I'm 20 weeks pregnant. We're still married but we're separated and trying to coparent is one of the hardest things I've ever done. I'm sure you guys make it look more graceful for the internet, but even then I'm just waiting to get to where you are right now. It’s so difficult. Every time I wanted to say something negative I would just imagine one of my kids was standing there next to me. It’s taken me so many years. We are now amicable. I can be in the same room as him and remain pleasant. All I try and remember is that the only thing that matters is my kids. They don’t need to know what he did to me. They need a dad. Maybe one day they’ll find out the truth. It won’t be from me. It’s hard but that’s what matters ultimately. I wish you happiness. One day you’ll have that.

After my fiancé of 12 years cheating on me ( with a married woman) he kicked me out of our home so she could move in!! That was 18 months ago. I’m a lot older than you but I’m disabled so I was terrified!!! I was planning on waiting a year b4 I started dating but after 6 months I went on a one date with him and we just clicked! I don’t live in a huge fancy house anymore BUT I own my own mobile home and I’m debt free and am much happier now than I was before. I’m not saying that I didn’t go through some dark times but with therapy and learning about narcissistic behavior I’ll never go back. We have to love ourselves first. I love your new place and I’m glad you have your kids to keep you busy.

I think I’m in a similar situation family wise. Don’t rush into getting into a relationship if you’re not ready, allow yourself time to work through everything that happen and just find yourself again, therapy could definitely help, I have a great psych and she really helps me see things I never thought or just make sense of my 100s of thoughts. For me I can’t get into a relationship right now cause I put my daughters dad before myself for so long (he cheated) that I lost myself and I genuinely couldn’t name one thing I enjoyed for myself, also just all the trust issues I have cause of him I just couldn’t date right now cause I feel I would start taking things out of that person cause of my issues cause of him and that wouldn’t be fair on them. So I’m just taking time to work on myself, find things I enjoy and working on becoming a better mum for my daughter and just spending time with her. You’re doing such a great job and you’re a great dad, you should be so proud of yourself for how you’ve handled this very difficult situation and the patience and grace you’ve shown. This is something I had to learn the last year while moving away from all my family and friends and that is to learn to be okay with being alone. That is why we search for the next thing to fill the void because we never learned how to just do it by ourselves. I dated a guy in my teens who was a childhood friend of my brothers. I was so infatuated with him it wasn't funny. I feel he did things on purpose to make me feel jealous and then he broke up with me and his excuse was that he wanted to focus on himself and two weeks later I found out he was dating a girl I introduced him to. I was heartbroken but two years later I found the love of my life. We met at work, I wasn't even looking and he caught my eye, worked up the nerve to ask him for his number...first time I ever asked a guy out and here we are about to celebrate 15 years of marriage and our oldest turned 14 today. I feel old and you know what happened to the guy who broke my heart when I was a teenager, the one I was so infatuated with? Well a few years ago he ended up making advances at his 12 year old step daughter...wow, did I dodge a bullet, even my brother said he was glad I didn't end with him.

Wow girl! You DEFINITELY did dodge a HUGE bullet. My fiancé and I have been together for a solid 17 years! I was with my oldest daughters father for four years until it ended abruptly because he cheated on me with my cousin in our bed with me sleeping in it!! But to be perfectly honest it was a relief because he wasn’t my true love and I knew my current fiancé at the same time and was head over heels for him he was always so attractive to me and gave me butterflies just by being in the same room with me! So I happened to call and ask if he wanted to go to a concert with me and he was dating someone at the time that he completely ditched to come hang out with me! My daughter was ten months old at the time! He has raised her ever since! And we have two kids together as well! It’s been an amazing ride and I j is that this is the man I’m meant to share my everything with! He’s my soulmate! I know Oscar will find his forever person! And I can’t wait to see it!

It's taken me 38 years to realize this - that 'failure' sometimes is a blessing in disguise and you know what - successful people 'fail' many times - the reason they're successful is that they continue to get back up after being knocked down. I've had so many doors slammed in my face in my life, and it made me feel less of myself. I'm finally realizing that it's ok to 'fail', it's ok for things to not work out - the real success comes when you just keep on going despite those setbacks - because if you keep going, you'll get somewhere - maybe not the exact place you had hoped but eventually a door will open if you keep trying.

That last questions answer is heartbreaking, but absolutely true. It's been a year and a half and I still have very little trust with my person. We were doing the best we had ever done once we started getting co-parenting down, but now we struggle daily. I think once you separate and get to that point of co parenting, it's really best to let things lie. I wish nothing but the best for you. As someone who is in therapy for their relationship it is hard. I too have trust issues. And I’m trying. I would love to get married to someone who also trusts and motivates me.
