back in 1970s when my uncle was searching for a job, vada pav used to be his daily staple food.

I know. But most of the Indians and especially Maharashtrians won't take it that way as it will affect their ego. Some may even start cursing them. The Vada Pavs from Mithibai are so different than what it was about 15 years ago. The Vada was on the spicier side and had an amazing flavour of its own. Now it just feels like bland boiled potato and they compensate by adding butter which was never meant to be in it. The previous ones are the reason why Mithibai Vada Pav got it's name/fame. Miss those days, now it's just standardised. Maybe the old vendors were kicked out for whatever reason.

Who said it's a Mumbai burger, Burger is 80% more expensive than Vada Pav. Vada Pav has its own identity, It was introduced for people who were not able to afford expensive food, it was more like a survival fast food.

Honestly, you should tell them to not add any wet chutney and ask them for the dry chutney and then try!! I loove it like that! (say “chutney mat dalna, bas sukhi chutney chahiye”)
