Great video! I went with the Cobb access-port, OTS tune at first then upgraded to e-tune from Torqued performance. I also added the Mishimoto trans cooler(a must) new Perrin charge pipe, Grimmspeed air intake and nameless axle back 5 inch muffler. I also have the OBDlink Lx with torque pro app and CVT plug in to monitor trans temps. Increased HP and torque a little with the tune but more importantly to me the CVT lag from a start is pretty much gone. I get great acceleration and plenty of power if I need it. Thanks for the videos!

Boost & Shutter really happy with Eric from torqued Performance. He went through multiple adjustments in the e-tune until we got it perfect. Check out the FB group mentioned in the other reply. Great group of people, lots of info...Subaru WRX CVT’s.

Sounds like you’ve got it all planned out good although I would suggest 2 things. An aftermarket downpipe will free up some power and let the car run a lot smoother and healthier. Also an aftermarket intercooler would be recommend just to keep everything cool and again, be able to add a tad bit more power and throttle response.

Good video again. Just last week, as SageWRX noted below, I have had added an Invidia J pipe along with a pro tune to my Levorg (same 2.0ltr motor + cvt as in the WRX). The rest of the exhaust remains stock. It has added about 30-35kw to the wheels. I don't do launches, but enjoy putting my foot down when it is ok to do so. I am also aware of the restrictions in adding to much torque to the cvt. MRT in NSW have suggested the safe limit is about 420Nm as measured on a hub dyno. My tuner has massaged the tune to keep the torque within agreed limits, hopefully safe limits. I know it is a risk, but the car feels much better to drive.

Good tips. I just got the Corsa Performance cat-back with the black tips and I really like it. No drone at all and when you push the car, you can hear it. Perfect balance. I will wait for a tune until after the warranty expires.

Thanks for the vid. I just got a 2009 JDM WRX STi tiptronic that I am going to take to stage 1 at a local tuner who has a good reputation. I am a little concerned about my transmission and the age of my car (100,000 kms). But the tune will be conservative. I little more power and torque through the rev range and better fuel economy would be awesome. I am putting an idrive throttle controller on it this morning....So here i go. :-)

trans still alive 2 years later? how far did you end up taking things in terms of power, cus got exact same car and thinking of doing some power mods soon.

Not sure I will mod my CVT for power gains as I want to keep the car a long time and for it to be reliable, risks involved. A cvt cooler looks good though, I did see the japanese wrx (WRX S4 CVT) has 221kW/400Nm which matches the aussie STI in performance, it has a transmission oil cooler added, so it's possible. Thanks for the great videos mate, I used yours to buy and upgrade kicker tweets and doors with my new headunit (kenwood ddx9017dabs). At the same time upgraded the door trim to match the carbon fiber trim on the dash, immediately makes the interior better. I have the invidia catback R400 which is the good middle ground as I didn't want too loud, and feel the tone is better then a axleback.

That's one of the biggest drawbacks of the CVT model, the transmission really limits how much power you can add and maintain reliability. No, it's not as much as the 6MT can handle reliably. Facts are facts.

Awesome vid. I'm also on some of the fb groups. subaru wrx cvts, and subaru cvt owners group. If/When you do get your stage 1+ intake, keep an eye on your knock/dam. Mine went all over during the first 2 months on the ots map from cobb. Ended up getting an e-tune from eric at torqued as well. It has been pretty good ever since!

Awesome video, I will surely follow your modlist cause mine looks almost the same! But with my FXT - 14 instead. Mishimoto cvt cooler is on the top of the list!

Gday from Australia, love your videos. I am about to take ownership of a new 2021 WRX CVT and wanted to ask you if I get an aftermarket exhaust (AWE Touring catback) do I need to get a tune? If I do need a tune would I take it to Subaru directly to do this? I am an amateur and have no experience in car mods I have driven Corollas all my life. Thanks in advance keep up the great vids :)

Hello, catbacks generally don't require tunes because it's installed after the O2 sensors

Nice videos. wonder if you get the exhaust drone noise between 1500 and about 1900 rpm. I searched the net and seems to be a known issue.

@boost & shutter I’m in New South Wales Australia I was thinking when I get my 2022 wrx cvt if I can put these mods on it and would I need a tune (1) WRX INTAKE & HEAT SHIELD AIR INTAKE SYSTEM (2) HKS SUPER SOV4 BLOW-OFF VALVE (3) Invidía High performance exhaust system R400 GEMINI QUAD TIP (4) cvt cooler (5) oil cooler As some people say I want my car to last long so I was thinking these 5 things for it I don’t want more power to it so would these be ok to get?

Oh wow, I didn't realize you didnt have an AP. I have Cobb Stage 2, makes it a whole different car. In my opinion, 1) Get a flex fuel conversion 2) Fill up 50/50 E85/93 Octane 3) Be amazed.

I just bought a 2020 wrx cvt and looking for a handful of tips/list for mods. I’m not trying to go pass stage 1+ tune. I’m not looking to push the car to the extreme just a slight difference. I come from owning a bmw e46 so I’m new to the Subaru world any input would be nice thanks yall(:

You have enough money to buy a WRX but can't read a manual? Bro.
@jamesg82464 жыл бұрын
They can in fact go in and see that the ECU was flashed even if you unmarry the AP to "return to stock". It will show it was flashed "two days ago". Red flag right away.

Good basic video but tbh you didn’t dive that deep into the knowledge and modifications possible to the wrx cvt. I have a 2020 wrx cvt limited that is possibly one of the fastest and most reliable in the country. I’m currently stage 1+ with a pro tune. My mods include ap, intake, headers, cat back, bov, charge pipe, trans cooler and boost control. All Cobb and Perrin. Tgv and egr deletes don’t need to be done on cvt you’ll never make enough power for that to affect it. Ap stage 1 u is what you run with just the the ots tune off the ap stage 1+ is with an intake, and intake is not stage 1 it is the +. These cars can be put to stage 2 by doing a j pipe and would most likely need a tq converter too handle the 300-400 whp and tq. Still risky though. My car is stage 1+ with headers and I’m pushing 300whp and still fairly reliable at 4K miles.
