Thought2 says in the video "Offense is subjective. What you're offended by is vastly different from person to person. What offends us depend on our social or economic background, our religious views (or lack thereof), the friendships you've had, how you were brought up, were you live, your political affiliation, your ethnicity, sexuality, age, gender, even your diet." Yawn. The dude conventiently leaves out "education" as a factor, especially "level of education on the topic that people feel they're being called out on". Why? Because being stupid is much easier than being knowledgeable, and most of the cheering supporters of this video are, in fact, stupid. That's why he omitted to talk about "education", since such a factor would eliminate the whole "free speech" trope cliché he keeps rambling about. Easy views, easy likes, easy life. This videos is clearly made for the not-so-intellectuals. And they're quite a large crowd to direct your misleading advertisement to, hence the popularized thumbnail of this video. Gotta get 'dem clicks!

@@sergeiyzerman7240 - You're missing the point. Some people believe that their opinion on a topic is equal to everyone else's input on that same topic, no matter whether the other guys have actually studied the subject or not. Why? Because morons overestimate their knowledge in a classic psychological trap while at the same time believing that "free speech" guarantees anyone to say anything without being ridiculed about it. The only ones going on about "free speech" today is alt-right Simpletons living in Western societies that generally knows better than them, and people being oppressed in authorative countries that doesn't allow free speech at all. The first group is actually trying to Remove free speech and silence critics, while the latter is trying to hold on to whatever free speech they have left. The exact same type that I already said would enjoy this video. And I'm sorry for that. I could comprehend the point of the video just fine, but the point is flawed and misleading. Hence my comment. You obviously couldn't look past what was being said, you just went along with it because he ultimately agreed with you either way. That's who you are. We don't have to be enemies just because we don't think alike, but bad people are going to take advantage of you if you don't move out of your filter bubble. One of the real problems of comedy is that so many people just do not 'get' irony. A comedian frequently 'hams up' a so-called sensitive subject just to make the point that it really is nonsense to take it seriously. As I have noticed from the comments on several KZbin videos, many people just do not understand the ironic nature of the video, but treat it as deadly serious. You make a really good point with this video.
@smudge03565 ай бұрын
Yep, that's true; and it started just after the whole 'P.C. thing' really took off in the late '70s/early 80s. People started standing up for groups other than their own, because it gave them a chance to shout and be heard for once in their lives. After a short while, the bulk of the public realised that these 'nobodies' were just jumping on bandwagons that they had no connection to. Which meant their words/actions were dubious, at best, and held little value or made very little, or no, real contribution to the conversation. Therefore, they had to be 'ultra-serious' and had to get angry-enough to be taken seriously, otherwise their voice meant nothing and they went back to being a 'unheard-of nobody'. Unfortunately, this led to their decriers having to also get angry & serious, thereby starting a vicious cycle that has escalated to the point where everyone's angry & so serious about the smallest thing, that they've forgotten how to laugh WITH other people. But more importantly, they've forgotten how to laugh at THEMSELVES. Let's face it, if you can't even laugh at yourself, how can you laugh at anyone else? These liberal 'P.C.' Dicks have ruined the world. They can't see that some things are so ridiculously gross/bizarre that they can ONLY be seen as comedy and therefore funny.

There's lots of angles here. But also some broad main points. It is not OK to be racist. Or commit genocide. And said PC, woke, or snowflake modus operandi began long before most people recognize. Mary Whitehouse and the National Viewers and Listeners Association were among the first official complainers to exist - and the telephone and TV and radio station was the battleground. Whitehouse et al were the reason why Ronnie Barker used the word scrote in Porridge. She was the reason why the word "bloody" was considered too offensive. She's the reason why sex was / is considered evil. The modern generation, with their eyes transfixed on mobile phone screens, have not a clue about the real word. A lot of, often white middle class, people in the western world are far too privileged. Millennials do not realize their world view has been passed down to them via the likes of Mary Whitehouse. She was a Tory and one of Margaret Thatcher's best friends. The broad main points I mentioned concern politics and economics. I find it very interesting that some people are easily offended. But are not offended by the state of the political and economic world around them. Ergo, said ruling elite and their political and mass media butlers must be laughing at us all. Because the fascism cited in this video is precisely what rich people want. Moreover, said personal offence also very conveniently takes the pressure off the people governing us all in this modern draconian way. We're all taking chunks out of one another whilst not holding our master race owners to account. And they do own us. We're their work animals. We make the profit. We do all the hard work. But it's not addressed. Yet political correctness is addressed. And that is highly ironic.

Lot of people seem to be pretty confused about this so let me break down some definitions for you Free speech is the freedom to not be legally restricted by your government or have legal repercussions based solely on your words Freedom of speech is not the freedom to say whatever you want free of consequences, being stopped by the public or your boss is 100% still free speech, as long as you're not getting legal consequences your freedom of speech has not been oppressed Also freedom of speech is a u.s. thing, in Canada it works a little different and it even has a different name, freedom of expression

I think some people are offended because other people are being intentionally offensive...so we got that out of the way. As far as people defending other people "who never asked anyone to defend them", that is nonsense. Of course we should defend others less able to do it themselves. The African American population in the USA is currently at about 12%. If "others" (non African Americans) didn't stand up for their rights, their chances of equal treatment would essentially amount to zero. White people have fought and died to end slavery and defend the rights of our brothers and sisters of colour. White people were primarily the ones who passed the Equal Rights Amendment of 1964. The same goes for the LGBT+ community, foreign refugees and for women's rights. It is all of our jobs to make sure that no one is disenfranchised or left out in a democracy. No one should ever have to "ask us".

Shows such as south park are actually quite advanced for acknowledging the reality and variety of people and phenomenom existing - whether or not politically correct. Comedy shows have repeatedly been the first to address things that have been considered problematic back in the days but have been nowadays been recognized and accepted (which snowlakes also like), whether it's being disabled, black, gay, trans and so on. To give broadcasting time for controversial subjects is the only way to open discussion - the context really doesn't matter that much in the end.

I am a Native American and I often try to make my friends make indian jokes. I find it hilarious. I was offended that the far left crowd told me that I was offended at the Washington Redskins' name. Like idgaf. It actually made me feel proud that my people were a national football team's name and they were internationally recognized. Thought it was pretty neat. I just find it appalling that a group of people that nobody wants tells you when and what you should be offended by when they have literally nothing to do with it. Like nobody asked for it or wanted it. Edit: after receiving notifications for people liking this comment I kind of came back to this topic and it got me to think. Thought it wouldn’t hurt to add a little more. I find it paradoxical that the same group that rallies tirelessly for inclusion is the same group that rallied for the name change. Even if they found the term “Redskin” racist (even though a majority of the people that should’ve had a say in the matter aka actual Native Americans didn’t) it was inclusion of a minority group nonetheless. What they should’ve done if they actually cared like they say they do, is to rally to change the “racist” name to something inclusive yet “not racist” instead of removing it entirely. I feel like it was both a waist of time and energy when no positive outcome came from it. Sure the “racist” name now isn’t there but also the Native American group now has 0 representation.

Nobody wants to root for the Washington Pink Panties, or whatever they call them now. They destroyed powerhouse teams and all the history that came before. Such a shame!

It comes from an epidemic of being offended on others behalf. All that does is silence the voices of those groups of people.

@@coldhaven1233 I hate how the people who find certain things "offensive" to minorities" are all heterosexual White people. I mean, the arrogance! They cry about "racism," yet think they're good enough to be our "representatives." For their information, the only thing we ARE offended by is their labeling of us as "minorities," dividing us into separate groups based on our outer appearances, and outright telling us that we're "victims" of some imaginary "system." What is it with identity politics with these people if not about control? If any of these were actually offensive, we would've spoke against this decades ago, but didn't because we're proud of being recognized and portrayed by the world. As long as the team won, that's the most important thing. There was nothing wrong with the Native American girl on the Land O Lakes butter, but, apparently, these "feelings police" apparently assumed that Native Americans were "offended" by this, so removed the girl from all of their labels, which I'm really upset about when I noticed it this year, and so was everybody else in my town, and I always thought it was nice to see a non-White person's face on a good American product. And same goes for other races, too, like these "progressives," for example, removing Uncle Ben's face off of his company (THAT is racist) because, since his skill supposedly had something to do with slavery or whatever they complain about, they think it was "racist" to portray a Black person in a kitchen or something (I don't know. These "social justice warriors" overthink and complicate the simplest things). Same with Aunt Jemima. I mean, they took something bad and turned it into a global business of their own, so it's something to be proud of. What IS offensive is how these people pretty much erased them. Heck, even the one set of grandparents from Rugrats, a CARTOON from the 1990s, generated controversy because, apparently, non-Jewish White people assumed that Jewish-Americans found the characters "offensive" for how stereotypical they were portrayed, even though Jewish-Americans actually thought the characters were hilarious and spot-on with their own grandparents, and that it was done in a very wholesome manner. The reboot of the cartoon is a disaster that never should've happened, not only because you don't change a classic, but because of how "woke" they made it to make it more "realistic/relatable," maybe, but it's just a mess (and the grandparents are now neutral White people, as if canceling their background is somehow more "tolerant"). I'm not Native American myself, but as somebody of East Asian descent, I get this. I don't find anything of this offensive in any way, in fact, a lot of it is funny, such as some Skittles commercial some years ago with the Korean Scot that we actually LOVED (because we never see Koreans in commercials, let alone a funny one like this. My mother's from Korea, and she cracked up when she saw it), and like the Chinese restaurant scene in A Christmas Story, which my whole family, along with all of the other Asian people in our area, finds the funniest part of the movie and always make fun of every year when we watch it around Christmas time, but, when they showed it at school one year, the teacher skipped that part and gave minuses to the boys who were mock-singing "fa ra ra ra ra" while not mentioning me, the only Asian kid, directly, apparently, because I "might" have been "offended" by this, even though I remember laughing along, while my mother told me that when some co-workers did the same during a Christmas party years ago, one of their bosses stepped in to stop it because they were "offending" my mother, the only Asian, even though she wasn't, and she felt bad for being the cause of ruining everybody's fun. If the media cuts that part from the movie, we protest. Didn't mean to rant, but all of this is infuriating. These so-called "enlightened" people are all creating actual victims out of us, people who just do our own thing and don't waste our time getting angry ("offended") over stupid, shallow things, who were never victims until they came along and said we were. But of course, stupid people think they're so much smarter than they really are, and when they feel that something might offend one "minority," first thing is to cancel and criminalize it (read: "might." "Offend." And "ONE." Doesn'tmatter if 1,000 of us "minorities" are okay with something). Sure, bad things happened, but all of that was old history and you can't change it, just move on from it. It didn't happen to US. Only those people can get "offended" by FACTS, which they need to learn to distinguish between OPINIONS (feelings-based, like everything about the Left).

The Amazing Ricky Gervais: “JUST BECAUSE YOU TAKE OFFENCE AT SOMETHING, DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE RIGHT”.
@viperbyte64024 жыл бұрын
@Mattscool Well bro, first up, the stuff from Gervais that I’ve seen at least, isn’t racial slurs, it is comedy. But if I get offended by something he says, that DOES NOT mean that I am right, and the he then must change his wording, simply because “ I’m offended, so that joke MUST b changed”. That’s what I was getting at....
@SugaryPhoenixxx4 жыл бұрын
@Mattscool No I do not agree with that.
@Ayumu18314 жыл бұрын
@Mattscool just no, if you say a topic can't be joked about then that's suppressing people's right to freedom of speech which as he said in the video is pretty fascist and supports Nazi ideals in itself.
@Ayumu18314 жыл бұрын
@Mattscool but it should be okay because us humans like to humour one another to get over a bad time, for example even though this covid-19 outbreak is pretty bad, me and my family are joking about it as it makes times like these more bearable. You're example of 9/11 jokes they should be aloud if people constantly look back and think that was horrid all the time some people will eventually not want to go on a plane because of if so by making jokes makes it seem like less of an issue than it actually was and that's the point of a lot of humour, to make people forget about the troubles in life by poiniting fun at them.
@ayadismat38304 жыл бұрын
@Mattscool I think, just my opinion, you should maybe look into some satirical novels or shows, satire ridicules serious things, it ridicules the serious thing it opposes like racism. Ricky Gervais is a satirical comedian, he does not necessarily like racism, even though he makes fun of it.
