StylesisTNA The only reason Fins lasted as long as they did was fighting an unmotivated poorly trained and equipped soldiers, those guys were half starving, this was a huge failure on Soviet state and caused too many casualties, in the end the Fins lost anyway just lasted longer than they should have. Today they would last about a week.

***** Actually, the Russians burned Moscow down so that the French had nowhere to hide from the winter, a tactic that became known as "scorched earth" and was actively used by Stalin in WW2, they must teach you some really strange "history" in Latvia. But aside from that, what happened to the French in the end? Oh right, Russian parade in Paris, forgot... Seems like every great "winner" against Russia always ends up with Russian troops parading in their capitol, weird.

Zamolxet Finns defended themselves from the USSR outnumbered... no. They were not outnumbered. Finland and USSR had almost the same conflict as USA and Vietnam. USA didn't send all of their forces to fight there, only some. So did the USSR in Finland's campaign. And the Soviet Union got the territories it wanted after all, so it was not a complete defeat.

Charls Cheese Russia is in no way a super power. They are at best a regional power. The fact that made the Soviet Union a superpower is that they had a lot of militairy bases around the world, Russia only has three or so in different countries and one of those is in Syria.. Not really the best place to be right now. Russia is not the strong bear it once was, they still have a lot of catching up to do before they can be on par with NATO.

The human mind is a weak and fragile thing... Capable of great things, sure, but vulnerable to being manipulated through a simple thing like suggestion. People are hardwired to feel a desperate need to fit in with others, and large groups have a tendency to have a strong influence on one's beliefs and thoughts. Anyway, this is just how I see people, and people creep me out. *( ._.)*

We do have evolution in Russia. People don't used to live in democracy. Historically Russia was always under propaganda. People are pathetic. But this things change. We do have internet and see how people live abroad. I think that everything was right in our country till 2013. We unite our regions, got good courts, good police. We organized Winter Olimpic Games, there will be FIFA Wourl Cup 2018. But Maidan and situation in Ukraine did bad things for us and our neighbours. I don't like this "Russian new World" propaganda. But the same time I don't want revolution in our country such as Maidan. We need evolution society and politic process. Gush.... We all wish to get back in 2013 year. When I and my friend go to Donetsk to see Manchester United. And we were all happy. Great times, you know.

Patriotism is good at keeping people in line. Many people in Russia, lovely and otherwise, who unfortunately support a incredibly corrupt and ideologically heavy handed autocracy, because they have been brought up and shaped to do so. Good, honest reporting of both sides is important. Ukraine has suffered horribly from the Putin backed rebels of the eastward, and those of the east of Ukraine have been bloodied bitterly by the Ukranian nationals in support of Poroshenko. Whilst I do indeed believe that Russia and her rebels of Donetsk and similar are at most foul in this situation (especially concerning the shot down commercial flight and it's treatment), there is always good and bad on both sides. Scientific observation and discussion is important. Make up your own decision based on what you see, and shift your beliefs and world view to evidence, do not be dragged by the tide with a flag over your eyes.

This is the result of a nation's citizens having more in common with each other than the same papers/passport or the same masters collecting their taxes. The cosmopolitan ruling classes in the West believed that the continued sanctions against the Russian economy and damage to the ruble would sap Putin's support -- since support for US/UK/European leaders is almost always tied to economic conditions -- but what they greatly underestimated is the extent to which a shared culture and authentic nationalist sentiment transcends material or monetary wealth. *They didn't expect Russians to rally around their leader in tough times.*
