I'll rather spend my tax money on keeping them housed in jail instead of cameras! What good is having surveillance when you letting them right back on the street after catching them on CAMERA!

You can have all the cameras you want but as long as you have judges that let them go back onto the street and a police hating city council not a damn is going to change this criminal 🐂💩.Elect people that REALLY want to stop crime in this city 👮‍♂️👨‍⚖️🤔

I understand the need for a solution to better fight crime, but this feels like an invasion of privacy, especially with Memphis police department's history.

How is it an invasion of privacy?😂

@Woodie.5k This could be seen as an invasion of privacy because it creates constant surveillance, even in areas around your home that were previously private. It also risks capturing people like neighbors or visitors who haven’t consented to being monitored by police. There’s concern about how the footage will be stored or used, and whether it could be misused or lead to overreach, like monitoring legal activities. It erodes anonymity and could make people uncomfortable, even when they’re not doing anything wrong.

You really want to lower crime help those neighborhoods to not become poor allow those people to have jobs even if they have tarnished records. You know treat them like you treat cops. Give them all the opportunity to succeed and when they fail help them after they've been caught. Yes, treat them just like the police

It doesn't matter how you treat them rats they still not gone work. All they look for is a freebie. That's what they live off they always give out free this and free that. I betcha if they said we giving out free application see how many show up. Anything else free they spend the night in their car to be the first in line. Rats

They are privately owned because it's your video security camera that you voluntarily register people pay attention to the entire video

According to authorities, locking your doors and staying inside your residence could bring down crime rates 21% 😂😂😂

They can watch your everyday commute, and see what times you go and come back, they study you and wait til you become a suspect on their radar and chase you down with a probable cause of course....scary.

Invasion of privacy well you should smash your cell phone now because the Government and AI listening to every damn thing you do. Your in America what privacy?

@tiardrabrown8388 the government spying like it has been is different from Memphis police doing it. The Ed Snowdens watching through our phone cameras aren't going to be stalking people like prey watching their every move. Memphis police officers have a reputation

Funny how a certain culture has to have a society like this.

Its not about a certain culture. China has more than any other country. It is definitely a safer route, in my opinion. It does make me feel better knowing there's more cameras. Memphis is where I was born and raised and I grew up in cordova and even there is gone to crap! It's disgusting what's happened to our city. It's not one group or color of skin, either. It's all races all nationalities all genders. 😢

There's no such thing as privately owned when it comes to the police. It's all government money. It's amazing how uninformed these reporters are and of course they are very pro police
