The moment when Kirsten Dunst says they (actresses) have a responsibility to uplift female filmmakers is what separates her from most famous actresses who talk the talk but not walk the walk. She's worked with so many female directors it's absolutely nuts. A-list actresses have more power than the vast majority of female directors-that's just TRUE. Also: Julianna Margulies is SUPER pissy at that moment and it's really weird. Hats off to Kirsten. Sidebar: Regina King & Kirsten Dunst on a panel together is like the best thing in the world.

that’s a nice concept but it’s not the shade y’all think it is. 5 out of these 7 women are tv stars not movie, which means it’s not up to them to “give a chance” to female directors. they’re not in control of who gets to direct the shows they’re in just like sarah paulson criticized her own show for not having female directors which is clearly not up to her… that would’ve been a different conversation if they were all movie stars who simply chose to constantly work with men.

thank you for changing the interviewer!!!! this woman is so much better than that guy who kept interrupting everyone.

I still remember his name because of the disaster that was this year's Hollywood Actresses Roundtable - it's Stephen Galloway.
@blackgrlfly8 жыл бұрын
+EigramGn What happened? I've only watched the one with Jessica Lange, Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson but I sensed some shade in that roundtable from some of the other actresses. This is my second roundtable and the interviewer isn't annoying or intrusive and the women just click.
@EigramGn8 жыл бұрын
BlackGirlFly With Stephen Galloway? Well he's overly interested in Jennifer Lawrence, and kept interrupting the other actresses as well as Jennifer herself to ask her a question. The way he did it was also extremely rude - he didn't wait for a pause in the conversation before asking his question, but just butted his way through until the actress stopped talking and he got the entire table's attention. Additionally, to keep the conversation "on schedule" (which really is just to ensure he gets to ask all the questions he's prepared) he interrupts, for example, Helen Mirren mid-talk even though she was talking about something interesting, unlike the questions he has prepared. The only thing that saved the whole roundtable was the fact that the actresses were graceful throughout the bare-faced rudeness, were interesting, and spoke intelligently. If you give the video a watch, you can immediately see how Stephen Galloway interrupts from just a few minutes in. Sorry for the rant - I just really detest how he conducts roundtables.

I always forget how much i like Jennifer Lopez. I kind of get caught up in the popstar/huge celebrity thoughts and she becomes a Kardashian in my mind, but then i hear an interview or watch a movie and remember that she's actually just a very likeable person.

she is likable,you are right! But damn it she doesn't belong in this group of actors.

I couldn't say tbh, i haven't seen her show. But i always enjoy watching her. I would have liked to see her talking with the Comedy Actresses though, they were a bit more lively and interesting. Some of these ladies seem to take themselves a bit too seriously.

Hollywood Report, As an actress, I always look forward to watching all of these roundtables-to learn and to glean and to be inspired. However, I am consistently disappointed lately by the extreme lack of talk of the CRAFT of acting. I would love for your interviewers to ask more questions about the art, the craft, and the development of characters. I understand politics are important too, and I applaud and agree to that. However, to have all these talented actresses in a room and talk about the craft for maybe 10% of the interview is highly, highly disappointing. Sincerely, an actor.

I'm sad all interviews with women have become "tell us about being a woman" instead of "tell us about being an actor".

In contrast, I absolutely loved it because it painted them as so much more than actors. I think as women they always get asked about their looks and character and acting questions. This time they got to sit with actresses who act AND are at the same time producers, directors, performers, and deal with the same oppressive stuff. I think what we saw is a coming together and a commonality not usually seen among women of different walks of life. The politics of acting is interwoven in everything they do so I think it was an apt conversation.

Also now that they have the actor on actor you can see like all craft stuff on there. I enjoy that it's mixed company cause they often ask each other stuff media won't ask.

29:50 to 30:20 now, that's acting. Hats off to Kerry Washington. She is one hell of an actress
