Thank you so much for making this video. Thranduil and Legolas are my favorite characters. Omg I adore Lee pace in this role he is sexy sexy sexy. He is everything I dream Thranduil would be when I read the books as a little girl. Orlando also has brought Prince Legolas to life as well. The pic you chose are beautiful. I love the ones of Thranduil holding a young legolas in his arms. I believe Thranduil loves his son very much. I wish we got more of the Father and son relationship in the movie because I love those two together. You made a beautiful video.

I know what you mean Angie, I think the novel you have may be The Silmarillion that I mentioned. It also describes the events that lead to the development of the Numenorians, really detailed sometimes it's hard to remember that it isn't real history. However, I haven't reread my Tolkien collection for about 20yrs so am rusty on which books did what. I have to restrict myself as I'm a self-confessed addict!

I'd like that too. Jackson focused on the ork and the wars. It would have been better to show more about the lives of the elves. I have a novel written by Tolkien that goes over the whole lineage of the major elvish nations and another book with a list of over a thousand names and out of all the names Jackson could have chosen for The Desolation of Smaug, he had to make-up a character. Can you understand that?

Legolas was the son of Thranduil. Although he lived among the Silvan Elves, Legolas was not one himself. His father Thranduil had originally come from Lindon; he and his son were actually Sindar, or "Grey Elves", called in the singular Sinda; "Sindarin" was their language. Thranduil himself was the son of Oropher. Legolas' mother is never mentioned, not even in the book by Tolkien; the Elves of Mirkwood have no Queen at the time of The Hobbit. It is also unknown whether or not he had any siblings. The realm's Sindar minority, who should have been more noble and wise than the Silvan Elves, went "native" at the end of the First Age. After Melkor was defeated and all of the grand Elf-kingdoms of Beleriand were destroyed, the Sindar returned to "a simpler time" in their culture. The realm of Lothlórien was similar to the Woodland Realm in that a community of Silvan Elves was ruled by a non-Silvan minority, namely Galadriel and Celeborn.
