I've never been so mesmerized by a fictional character. How I wish that Lee Pace can continue to portray the character so that Thranduil can still live on. Poor me is just repeatedly watching Thranduil-related videos on KZbin because there's just not much of his scenes. If only Thranduil could have his own drama.

Ness Stabler I heard that the Tolkien's family hold the rights to Simarillion till 2043. Unless they decide to sell the rights to it, I don't think we will be able to see it adapted into movie in the near future. Just too bad.

We need more Thranduil. Has anyone thought of a backstory? Growing up in Doriath and Amon Lanc and the court of Elu Thingol? Losing his dad in the Battle of Dagorlad? His relationship with Legolas' mom? His fight against the dragon that scarred him? The origin of the Gems of Eryn Lasgalen (they're from Valinor and were part of the dowry of either his wife or his mother depending upon whether she was a part of the Host of Valinor or the Exile of the Noldor most folks believe the first).

I have seen a lot of Thranduil obsessed videos by now as yes, I too am reduced to trolling about looking at thranduil tributes due to the lack of scenes he is in. but I think this tribute is the best I have seen so far. LOVE how you worked with the music and synched it to the images (what is the music from? Its really nice). A visual feast. Peter Jackson: Thank you for bringing Thranduil to life, he's exactly how I visualized him 38 years ago and it is great fun to see him in the flesh, as it were! Lee Pace channels him perfectly and he is such a lovely man, he's really eye candy, especially when he smiles. Legolas is hot stuff but my goodness, his daddy is ridiculous! I love how there is something slightly sinister about Thranduil, like when he is speaking to Gandalf. Hes kind of a scary elf but I love him anyway. There is definitely a story there thats not told yet and i hope the filmaker takes up the tale.... His wardrobe is inspired. He really dresses to impress! I wish also that he had more scenes. Its a crying shame hes not in the lord of the rings trilogy.. I want more Thranduil Mr Jackson! Do The Silmarillian story! Thranduil is 3000 plus years old, he is a high elf not a sindar and that means he came from the undying lands (I think), which means he was around at that time, like what, 6000 years ago and its primarily an elvish tale, so all of us elf obsessed people get to have our fun :) Its really quite fun as I haven't been so interested in a fictional character since I was a kid. I feel like a kid again! Thanks to all the talent that pulled together to make him come alive on the screen. Thanks for this tribute April. Great job!

No, he is indeed a Sindarin Elf. He was born in Doriath, not the Undying Lands, and as a Grey-elf he never saw the Light of the Two Trees and was never in Aman. No one knows if he went to Valinor but most people think he never did, but stayed in Eryn Lasgalen. He is mentioned in Unfinished Tales and briefly in The Silmarillion, but that’s it.

Anyway ... am I the only one who was picking up some serious Jareth vibes when he was lounging in the throne, looking the way he did? *If* they were to make a sequel to "Labyrinth" (I'm not exactly thrilled about the possibility, seeing as it would have to be done without Bowie!), I would be okay with Lee taking on the role of Jareth.
