Whether they changed for the worse or not James IS the man! HE IS a major reason for the best things to come of metal. Not to mention a spectacular rhythm player. Playing the riffs from Masters or Justice fluently to a tee will always be a challenge to an advanced player! Playing Malmsteen licks (harmonic minor scales) fluently was LESS of a challenge. To play those Metallica riffs is one thing but to play them like Hetfield...to me was another story that I will not forget.

Speed-Trash Metal was born in the 80's a Fusion of Heavy Metal and Punk.. yes... like Plasmatics or Motorhead. In Mexico, Luzbel and Transmetal were pioneers in this genre. Play it loud!

For what i know, Overkill was the first PIONEER of Thrash Metal band. Followed by Leather Charm/Metallica, where Jaymz was and still in Metallica. Don't get confuse with the word pioneer and big 4. They're totally diff. I hope i can get this clear. :)

Punk groups like G.B.H. had lively and wild energy. DRI, Circle Jerks, Cro Mags, ect were so damaged. It was like how much lower can you go? How much lower could a band have gone then the hardcore punk bands? The answer is nobody was as low.

None of the early black metal bands sound like the crap we have today because they all played a darker version of thrash and traditional metal. However Venom coined the term in one of their songs called "black metal" same thing with Possessed they coined the term death metal

I have now idea how some people regard glam rock (the likes of Bon Jovi and Montle Crue) as an example of heavy metal. In fact glam is nothing else but pop music,a very bad one. It was Kerry king who said that there were 2 things that, in the early eigties, inspired Slayer to play faster: hatred towards glam metal and love towards hardcore bands (D.R.I.,Black Flag,etc.).

LOL once upon a time, I wrote on my plain white tee "THRASH RULES, GLAM DROOLS", haha to be 16 again. I do get annoyed at how the history and presence of glam metal is featured more than thrash. Yes, glam was the more mainstream of the two in the 80s but thrash is just as important. I saw a documentary on the history of heavy metal and thrash was mentoined for 3 seconds while glam was given a full 12 minutes of praise.

Motorhead gave metal more aggression, Venom made it heavy and evil, Bathory made it grimmer and darker, Slayer took all those elements and made an awesome band Megadeth made it appealing to mainstream Americans and Dave made the debut steals from Metallica (doesn't matter if he wrote the material, he wanted a band that was better than Metaliica, not like Metallica)- that's it (Nothing special)

when teh first thrash bands of the 80's came alogn it was a big jump i definitly love megadeth but whyd they have to be such biased people, "every genre of metal suxx unless its always heavy and always fast, so we made thrash which is the only good genre" tahst basicly what they were saying. i mean look at pantera they were awesom and heavy and all that, but dime was very musicly open minded and loved all metal

Lemmy thinks that Venom lyrics are bad, and Motorhead lyrics are good? face it, Motorhead lyrics usually suck ass for some exceptions. Don't get me wrong though, I think Lemmy is a legend nontheless and albums like Ace of Spades and Overkill are amazing (except for lyrics).
