This film made me shed a tear. I was the biggest fan of the Piss Drunx 18 years ago. I would watch Baker2G then go skate every single day in the streets of LA trying to be just like him. Best moments of my life that I can ever remember. I recently decided to start skating again at age 32 and seeing Greco doing it in his 40s really gives me more of a drive to go ahead and do it. God Bless you Jim Greco. You are the man, a legend, and a genius. Beautiful work. Straight up masterpiece. PD for life ✊

Angel,,Dude not to sounf corny af but im so proud of you stranger... You did what i did and you did it 5 years before me.. I starter skating again when my 5 year old daughter was at her friends house and she had a bigger brothe rwho was like 8 or 9 years old and i saved his board and skated it back to him and he started smack talking me and my daughter said "my dad can kickflip" i was like "shut up honey ;D)" SO i tried it (in the hard grass like a btch) and LANDED IT.. Super sketch but whatevs, it was almost 20 years.. I stopped in 1994 when i was like 18 or 19... Well that was about 7 years ago & now i skate almost every other day. *I over shared hoping you would give me your similar Angel. **At my age im more curb dancing & Manny Curb stuff. No stairs at all. that summer i 1st returned i went to my local skatepark and sessioned with these two kids for 2 hours trying to land simple tre flip and when i finally got it the 1st turn afte rthe kid in front of me did it was a hellova moment for me. But i regret that i didn't perfect em and they arent part of my skating at all. But that moment fealt great.. *My favorite part has to be watching older vids to get psyched to for pre session & buying older gear from ebay like eS Ronnie Creager or Old 2005 era Kostons and old powell decks.. **Angel,,Those older Powell decks from the late 1980's up till 1996'ish were made with special wood. i learne3d this when i got ahold of a Chris Senn deck anfd a Ray Underhill deck and it was so noticable how strong the board was. How much control i had. That waw the moment i went from Popsicle to football shaped..... Damn,,i just got psyched with these mems... hope i hear from ya homie.

@user-og6ol2im7v5 жыл бұрын
@@gokermitsewerside358 I think for Greco, skateboarding is just one of the multiple ways he lives his life without thinking about the future / consequences. I'm thinking for example about his heroin addiction. His character is a spectacle. Sho knows what will happen after his career? Maybe ride a home made boat in the sea and almost die like Heat Kirchart? I admire him but I am not going to care more than he does. (btw I don't know him personnally and I might very well be completely wrong)

It’s not genius, it’s a copy of the mood of what is genius-in Italo american cinema. Greco escapes the present by transformation: in decor, props clothing (something he always did). Architecture becomes a source of fun and visual storyteller. I find it a brave film and hope Greco keeps doing these, building himself a new universe inside the broad imagery of skateboarding-finding his own artistic language.

Matthew Porter-mendez definitely can expect serious damage.. Man feel from over 4ft height directly onto his lower spine... oh yeah...it'll be hurting forever. Lots of PT and chiropractors will help him but it's expensive. Though I'm sure he's better a money management considering he's still in the industry like this

I'm not a skater but this is just an awesome cinematography. I felt I was there with all that freedom and struggle.

One of the best films I've seen in a long time. I remember being from RI and Greco and Barley were my idols, CT strong!

There's a big message here guys. You have to take into account these are some "older" fellas who used to be top dogs in their days and are still considered top dogs if you ask me. The title "jobs? never!" goes to show the spirit of the skater against what's considered "typical and assumed of" what someone is going to do. Skating represents freedom. Thank you for this video!
@jvmartiniano4 жыл бұрын
exactly, at his age most professional skaters go to different routes on the skate industry, while some crazy mfs keep being a professional, but to do that u literally gotta keep being a top dog on the field... cos everyday gon get harder and harder cos skate is a destructive sport
@mattsullivan75174 жыл бұрын
yep, no need to get a job and save money for those rainy days. weighed down by expendable cash? No, sir, not me! thats pure freedom.
@tpks25424 жыл бұрын
@@mattsullivan7517 Hahahaha that's an insanely hilarious comment. I do believe that a job is a gift. People are better off honestly working a job, and riding a skateboard for fun, rather than risking their lives to make less money than they would working a job.
@mattsullivan75174 жыл бұрын
@@tpks2542 Cheers, homie.. Making folks laugh is also a gift.. I hope it keeps on giving! I fully agree.. People gotta eat.. Can't sit around all day waiting for Erica to show up with a free lunch!

I like when he skateboards inside his house with that girl on the sofa watching TV hahah. Nice movie - I like that oldies style. It's like the 80's style and I like it. Congratz Jim Greco!! ys

Jim Greco is insane, nearly destroying his body so you know when hes older itll DEFINITELY catch up to him, would be incredible if it didnt. One day we're all gonna look back at this and know damn well this wild ass fellow was killing shit. Edit: this guy is old enough to be my dad, my own dad can’t even push himself like this 😂 incredible

I don't know about you guys but all I thought about the entire film was that brutal slam at the beginning. Maybe it was the slow mo, I dunno but when he hit the curb I felt pain myself just watching.

love the Scorsese steez, it’s like Travis Bickle quit driving taxis & moved to LA to pursue the dream of becoming a pro skateboarder. Respect to Jim & the crew, great piece.

I've been watching Greco the last 18 years and gotta say he's an inspiration. The cat does what he wants and has style for days on and off the wheels. Love the filming style and music. Couldn't look away during the video. It doesnt hurt to smile Jim, but it don't really help either.

5:34 thank you for being polite to that lady, a lot of skaters these days throw hate towards anyone and everyone that’s gets in the way of or doesn’t understand skateboarding, we all share this earth.

Honestly, Jim Greco you are an inspiration to me. Although years later I do not skate as hard as I used to working in finance at a desk job 7 till 5... I can still appreciate the unique swagger you've brought to the world of skating. Only you can pull off Oxford skate shoes and shred in slacks and a dress shirt and make it look so natural...and you still effing kill it on your board. You're one bad ass dude and you inspire me to grind shit out, no excuses.I'll be wearing those Supra's with my dress slacks.
