270BC Fearing attack from the Odrysians from their capital of Odessos just north of Antheia, Demetrius marched his army to the border and set up camp, preparing to defend it from any potential invasion. Down south in the Peloponnese, Sparta had seemingly betrayed Macedon and had rescinded the alliance between the two. Antigonus was furious at the declaration, saying that the Spartans have now fully lost their honour, as they drew Macedon into a fight with the Epirotes, just so that they could backstab him so that they themselves won’t have to support Macedon in any of their wars. There was a silver lining however, despite the fact that the Epirotes had marched from their new capital of Larissa to siege Pella, which they could easily of taken, the king of Epirus didn’t want to fight what he saw as kin, and so would willingly take a peace treaty with Macedon. Antigonus was relieved, not only was the city saved but now he has an effective buffer against Sparta and potential their vassal Athens, if they decide to rebel against their masters.

22:14 he has a lot of skirmisher units. i personally would only have had about half of what he is using perhaps less and make the bulk of my troops pikes with a number of hoplites for reserve and flank protection and a few cav units

You can upgrade to a regional supply centre from an agora/forum type building but only in regional capitals which gives you supply range of 3 adjacent territories. Once you've upgraded then you can recruit a baggage train. Having a fleet with some supply ships off the coast can also supply - one army for each supply ship. Hopefully you'll get more accurate supply advice from more experienced DEI players but that's my general rule of thumb.

you keep misreading the diplomatic info for Epirus. It's not at war with Rome, it's a client state of Rome. and attack Navissos ASAP, the garrison's trashed, so any waiting just makes it that much harder as he continues to recruit and the garrison regenerates

Lionheart I enjoy your historical let's plays you inspired me to get into the series of total war. a mod you might enjoy is valuable veterans it boosts the strength of veterans way more then the vanilla game.

there is supply depots in the yellow city centre tech tree of your regional capital build that and you can recruit a supply train for your army's and slave's reduce empire maintenance but don't have to much or public order will drop

nice series lionheart! I suggest do NOT peace out with them but you encircle that settlement and try to siege them out which has following positive effects: 1.they will die or have to come out 2.you will have a full province (so you can use that special province ability (sorry can't remember the english word...)) 3.you will gain an extra ressource which will help you to get more money and more trade agreements! (Btw. pls get some more trade agreements! there are plenty of factions which will trade with you)

I think definitely go straight in. The town paths will be to your advantage with your pikes and ranged units.

one tip for you. for best quality troops, make sure your best cavalry or hoplite barracks is in the capitol province, since like in warhammer you can upgrade to highest tier in there. also make sure that you have a temple of ares in the capitol as well for top tier bonus to military units.

the army grain pits are from the social chain in the provincial capital also after capturing the odyrssian lands you will get a lot more trade, slaves are a very valuable resource

A tactic that works to limit friendly fire in dei but at the same time makes your missile units get plenty kills and break the enemy lines: place your ranged units on the flanks behind your line; hold fire until the lines clash, clear the enemy missile units with your cav; run your missile units around the clashing lines to face the rear of the enemy, and hit fire at will. Works especially well when you have strong defensive hoplites or pikes to just hold the enemy in place while you clear the way for your missile troops to rear-attack. This only works in dei because battles are much slower, would never work in vanilla rome 2. Not sure how it will play out with your faster combat mod though! But worth a try I think.

I believe Night Attacker is under Skilled Tactician (one of the two Cunning trait-trees). You only really need Lvl 1 to enable it; Lvl 2 doesn't have much extra of worth, IIRC.

siege them down. force them to attack you. you could support the main army with one of the two generals if you want more cavalry support without paying for it. take control of the whole province so you can issue an edict. taking Nikomedia if Pergamon leave it open would give you great access to the east also providing you with an exceptional defensive base. You don't necessarily need to push into turkey straight away either, taking that one city and influencing the culture will be a massive benefit once the other Greek states have been taken care off. id imagine Pergamon would accept peace and Pontus might be grateful enough to accept trade! More trade agreements will come with more strategic resources. i think a war with Rome is inevitable. you want to claim the whole province of Pella. although ive always found Rome to be very stubborn and not/never willing to agree to peace under any circumstances - be prepared, a war with Rome would likely mean needing to take them out completely or staying at war indefinitely. Strengthening your faction elsewhere then returning for the full destruction of Rome would be the way to play it IMO. potentially waiting for the Punic war to start up as the time to strike. Carthage may be interested in an alliance then (maybe offer to join the war against Rome along with military/defensive alliance & trade could work) Good luck! :)

Hey Lionheart, the building to recruit baggage trains for armies is only for province capitals as far as I know, level 2 in the yellow cultural building tree, called a 'supply pit', check it out in Pella, should get you your first key resource, grain :) Now back to the episode for me :)

Also, don't forget that Epirus seems to be a client state of Rome, unless the Senate goes for the backstab to landgrab route :)

Besiege them to stop them reinforcing. You can use your other generals to ferry in more troops to the army, and the Ardeiai may even come to help

You could "set Athens free" (read: Cancel your client-state agreement). That would make Epirus like you better, and for Athens's opinion--"I hate you, or I REALLY hate you?" And then, after telling Athens to get lost, Epirus might be more disposed towards non-aggression, etc. P.S. The client-state agreement has a built-in mutual defensive alliance. Difference is, the client pays for the privilege of being defended by the hegemon.

+lionheartx10 Remember the resources! You've got trained slaves in Odessos. These are required for constructing certain building chains and warhorses is a must for some cav.

Whichever you do, do it immediately if not sooner: Storm the Odrisians at Navissos; your army + your tactics are better than theirs. At minimum, invest them and make them suffer attrition.

The Odrysians in Navissos (no 'o' after the 'i' in the pronunciation by the way) DO NOT have an army of 18 units - it's only 15... you can definitely take them

Rome 2 without mods is perfectly playable the game got a massive patch 17 aka Emperor Edition for free which has significantly improved the game since its bad launch!

you are trying trade with every settlement but you have no trading port. if you are not connected with land with that faction i think you need to have a trading port for trade. And you must have some resources so that they will be interested in trading.

I am a year late, and yes, you do have to. SInce Third age is the main mod. Divide and conquer is a submod, meaning it will not work without Third age. Hope my comment is mute and you have it figured out after a year hahaha.

Use the fort, the AI are quite bad at recognizing their weakness when attacking forts. At least in the base game maybe not in the mod I've never used it, but judging by the last episode the fort is a safe bet.
