Ramming ISDs seems a bit too effective, if not the only way to take out: - Rammed by a Hammerhead - Hit by asteroids - Rammed by A-wing, followed by ramming into DS-2 - Rammed by a Katana Dreadnaught - Pulled by tractor beams to ram into Jakku - Hyperspace rammed Why can't we get some non-collision related ISD deaths or is that just too hard to do?
@ravager2-6363 жыл бұрын
Ramming is just the fastest way of getting a ship(s) out of the picture for a situation.. It would take a considerable amount of time for ships of similar & smaller scale hammering a mile long heavily armored & shielded starship with cannons & “small” yield explosives otherwise.. Most times in films & books it’s used to clear the way for the heroes to escape or hit something vital or give the good guys breathing room, while showcasing the dangerous environment (as seen in the movies) Ramming is a very real & acceptable move of desperation, heroic sacrifice or tactical maneuvering if your ship is strong enough to survive it. (As seen in real life).. Now some of the effects of the ramming is over played like the A-wing knocking the Executor to its death but it’s served the purpose of explaining how after the DS-2 & the Executor were destroyed both Rebel & Empire “quickly” quit the battle to lick their wounds. Were the Executor still alive it would of been able to rally the fleet to continue the fight on Endor.
@ravager2-6363 жыл бұрын
I’m sure it will happen eventually.. Just need a Star war story that’s tell the story of two Admirals who hunt each other down with orders to capture or kill or something. Sure it will take a lot of CGI to show some good turbo exchanges & ship damage.

@@ravager2-636 Or Piett seeing the battle is over, calls for a retreat as the Executor was still the attention of the Rebel Fleet.
@ravager2-6363 жыл бұрын
@@Battleship009 very possible, would of cost Piett his command if not his life if he arrived in imperial space with the Executor & the remnant of Death Squadron claiming defeat & not avenging the emperor. (Since no Rebel force ever stood up to a Dreadnaught & 25+ISD before, at the time) Commander Gherant his XO wanted to engage the rebel fleet instead of just blocking it as Piett was ordered too.. Yet with the Executors powerful batteries & most of the Death Squadron ISDs still operational (at the time due to Ackbar’s order to focus fire on Executor) freeing the ISDs to engage the outnumbered capital ships of the Rebel fleet which inflicted heavy damage on the rebel fleet.. (You would think that Darth Vader’s personal fleet full of the most loyal personnel in the empire would of stayed & fought to the last, since Vader would kill you for failing) Yet with the Death Star Destroyed & the Emperor slayed (The main objectives of the attack) the Rebellion didn’t have much reason to stick around.. With the main portion of their fleet at Endor the rebels would benefit more by leaving to spread the news of the Emperor’s death & hitting vulnerable imperial system then duking it out with the remnants of Death Squadron taking additional casualties in the process.

#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In this essential Star Wars Legends novel-the first ever to take place after the events of the original trilogy-Grand Admiral Thrawn makes his debut on the galactic stage. Five years ago, the Rebel Alliance destroyed the Death Star, defeated Darth Vader and the Emperor, and drove the remnants of the old Imperial Starfleet to a distant corner of the galaxy. Princess Leia and Han Solo are married and expecting twins. And Luke Skywalker has become the first in a long-awaited line of Jedi Knights. But thousands of light-years away, the last of the Emperor’s warlords, Grand Admiral Thrawn, has taken command of the shattered Imperial fleet, readied it for war, and pointed it at the fragile heart of the New Republic. For this dark warrior has made a vital discovery that could destroy everything the courageous men and women of the Rebel Alliance fought so hard to build.

@DIEGhostfish3 жыл бұрын
I still would like to see Corey spitballing possible extensions to fleets like Solo Command and Wedge's Lusankya hunters to better match the true-scale Executor class. Vs the older 8km versions with half as many guns and less than half the length
@grandadmiralzaarin49623 жыл бұрын
@@DIEGhostfish well in game there's solid reasons not to do that. Firstly pathfinding in EaW is basically bare bones, so larger ships don't interact well. Then there's balance and the fact the vessel would pretty much take up half or more of the map. Theoretically he could just upscale it for these analysis videos, then shrink it back I suppose.
@CoreysDatapad3 жыл бұрын
I think he's talking more about on more videos adding ships to task forces to account for power disparities, like not having three ships in Solo Command not be able to basically murder 2 SSDs.
@DIEGhostfish3 жыл бұрын
@@CoreysDatapad Yeah, though Solo Command is less of an interesting one to me, since it's an official NR taskforce and you can bulk it up with whatever you want without needing to make up a narrative. My real interest is in Wedge's "Pirate" fleet in Bacta war. Where they'd need to bulk it up with other sources of ship. Personally I lean heavily to that early bit where they had access to corporate skyhooks. Sorosuub could "Lose" some Liberators and Dauntless
@grandadmiralzaarin49623 жыл бұрын
@@CoreysDatapad fair, though one of said SSDs was almost entirely unmanned and both lost shields to sabotage in the start of the battle so it's a bit more understandable for Zsinj to flee that engagement.

Timothy Zahn is a famous novelist from the United States of America, who likes to write the novels based on the fantasy and science fiction genres. He was born on September 1, 1951 in Chicago, Illinois, U.S.A. Zahn is particularly known for writing the Thrawn series of novels under the Star Wars series. In addition to this series, he has also published a number of other novels and short fiction stories. The writing career of Timothy Zahn has been a successful one as he went on to win several prestigious awards like the Hugo Award in the year 1984 for his novella Cascade Point. Zahn is also the author of other novel series’ such as the Blackcollar trilogy, the Cobra series, the Hand of Thrawn novels and a few others as well. The Thrawn trilogy proved to be a turning point for both Zahn and the Star Wars franchise. It brought widespread appreciations from all over the world and as a result, all the three novels of the series successfully made it to the bestseller lists in the New York Times. The success of the series gave the much required motivation to Timothy Zahn for writing other novel series’ in the Young Adult genre such as the Dragonback series and the Conquerors’ trilogy series. Zahn earned his BAchelor of Science degree in the physics subject from the Michigan State University in the year 1973. After that, he moved to Illinois. He attended the University of Illinois at the Urban-Campaign and earned his M.S. degree in the year 1975 in physics. While pursuing his doctorate in physics, Zahn’s advisor became seriously ill and consequently died However, he did not stop his studies due to the tragical incident and went on to complete his doctorate.

Zahn had begun writing science fiction stories in the year 1975 as a hobby, but soon realized his keen interest in writing novels. As a result, he went on to become a professional writer after finishing his studies. As of today, Zahn lives in Bandon, Oregon along with his wife Anna Zahn and son Corwin Zahn. Zahn has described the day when he received his first offer from his agent. He was busy writing his first novel for this new publisher, Bantam Books around 4 o’clock on November 1, 1989. The phone bell rang and it was his agent Tim on the other end. He informed him about an interesting offer which changed his life and career completely. The novel series ‘Star Wars: The Thrawn Trilogy’ written by Timothy Zahn consists of three novels published between the years 1991 and 1993. The first novel among the trilogy is the ‘Heir to the Empire’, which was published by the Bantam Spectra publishing house in the year 1991. The novel is based on the science fiction and fantasy genres and is in the fictional world of space galaxies. The plot of the novel revolves around the life of the main characters such as Luke Skywalker, Lando Calrissian, Han Solo, Leia Organa and Mara Jade. The novel opens up with the introduction of the Return of Jedi, which is the Rebel Alliance. It has been over five years after the destruction of the Death Star by the Rebel Alliance. Along with that, it had also defeated the Emperor of Old Imperial Starfleet and Darth Vader and had also driven the remnants out of the Imperial Starfleet to a faraway corner of the galaxy. The introduction of Princes Leia and Han Solo shows them married to each other and expecting their Jedi Twins. Also, Luke Skywalker is depicted as becoming the first Jedi Knight of Jedi, a post which had a long awaited line of contenders. Some thousand light years away, the last warlord of the emperor took the command over the destructed Imperial Fleet. He has made it ready to enter into a war against the new Republic. For fulfilling his ambitions, the dark warrior has been able to make a couple of discoveries. The discoveries posed a great threat to everything that the brave people of the Rebel Alliance had built by fighting hard. They feared that the discoveries of the dark warrior might destroy everything they had made over the years of struggle. The novel shows the descriptions of of explosive confrontations, mystery, invention and epic action sequences. The readers found the novel to be extremely interesting and worthy of being called a part of the Star Wars franchise.

I love this. Will be great to see what other cool fleets or battles you recreate for this. I know alot of people complain about the poor design of the ISD, but with the new republic going through the effort of stealing a star destroyer from the imperial remenant who stole it from the rebels who stole it from an imperial warlord who i guess technically stole it from the empire when they broke away, then the ISD must have been doing something right.

Feels good to get some recognition for many years of dedicated service to the Empire. (more seriously though) I started using this as my primary online screen name in 2007 when I started playing Eve Online, and for the whole time I played Eve (two seperate multi-year runs with different characters) my best ship was always named Relentless. My avatar is my original Eve Online avatar. Over time, the handle has slowly evolved to the point where I gave myself a first name, and I tend to use either that first name, which is *not* the name of the actual character. I think I stole the name of a rebel pilot without meaning to... so good work me.

The second novel of The Thrawn Trilogy was titled ‘Dark Force Rising’. It was published in the year 1992 by the Spectra publishing house and consists of the same characters from the first novel as the main characters. These included Luke Skywalker, Lando Calrissian, Han Solo, Mara Jade and Leia Organa. The plot of the novel is set in the same fictional world of the Imperial Fleet and continues from where the first novel had ended. The novel introduces the Grand Admiral Thrawn as the most ruthless and cunning warlord. He has taken control of the dying empire of the Imperial Fleet. He has full command over the remnants of the Fleet and has plans of launching a huge campaign in order to destroy the New Republic.

This was a reply to another comment, but if anyone could read and comment about some of my hyperspace thoughts…I’m not sure if SW jumps can work like this. ------ Yet, they all do form up in a plane. I understand your thinking - and I share your frustration. I often wondered if a scout force could be sent in to plot the positions of an invaders force, and then hyperspace back to its fleet. Then the fleet could hyperspace on top or below the invaders in the most advantageous orientation for the fleet’s cannon. I also always wondered why ships that are suffering so much damage don’t simply hyperspace away. Or, as an extension, don’t use hyperspace hit-and-run strikes. It’s not like they can’t have these ‘escape jumps’ pre-plotted - and even if they don’t or can’t, couldn’t they just do short jumps in the vicinity? Heck, for that matter, why not just hyperspace to the other side of a Star Destroyer that’s banging the crap out of them? Chuckle, imagine a broadside battle with ships popping in and out of hyperspace, trying to out-position one another.
