Another thing that was dropped, the older generation retiring. Honestly, it should have been Jacen that died, Anakin that was taken, and Luke that held the bridge for him. Then the later books should have been exclusively about Jaina, Anakin, Ben, Tahiri, and their friends.

Obi-Wan Kenobi DID NOT "partially redeemed" Reva Sevander. She had FULLY REDEEMED herself. All Obi-Wan did was offer her comfort during her emotional breakdown AFTER she had redeemed herself.

I agree with the Otto von Bismarck comparison to Pellaeon....and raise you a Gorbachev... Bismarck was an ardent imperialist/militarist (typical for that era) but he would always put his country first before engaging in any foolishness, its one of the reasons Kaiser Wilhelm II dismissed him a few years before World War 1. A war that destroyed his country, ruling order, and empire. Pellaeon has a similar experience as a military officer in the Empire, minus the dismissal. I also can see Pellaeon as a Gorbachev-like figure, Communist/Soviet/Imperial to the core, rising through the ranks and various bosses. But he sees the need for drastic change within the Soviet Union/Empire. Regime-wise, I can compare the Imperial Remnant under Pelleaon to the 1970s Deteant era or 1980s Soviet Union under Gorbachev. Thawing of relations with the Western Powers (New Republic) and attempting to modernize their countries to better survive the changing modern political climate. The overall quality of living would be better for the average Imperial/Soviet citizen than the horror shows under Stalin or Palpatine, and better than the largely corrupt post Palpatine Imperial Warlords (Krennel, Zinjj, Isard, Daala) or post Stalin rulers (Melenkov,Khrushchev, Brezhnev, Cherenko, Andropov). I imagine an Imperial Human living on Bastion vs. a Imperial non human living on the other Outer Rim worlds to be similar to a Russian Soviet living in Moscow would have a better quality of life than a Central Asian Soviet living in the countryside of one of the Stans, Siberia, or the far east coast. But both are still at a relative disadvantage compared to their New Republic/Western counterpart. However, neither Pellaeon nor Gorbachev are truly pro democratic or pro self determination. They allowed change out of necessity, not altruistic motives. They change they did initiate was usually against the norm for their country. Both were often at arms against the ruling elite hardliners (Council of Moffs/Politiburo). Their reforms are for the betterment of the Empire/Soviet Union. If they happen to be *Good Guy* decisions, so much the better. I'm sure any world going against the Imperial Remnant under Pelleaon would receive similar treatment the Soviets dished out to Afghanistan or the Caucasian Republics under Gorbachev in the 1980s prior to the 1991 collapse. While IRL, Gorbachev's Glasnost, Perestroika, and though never fully implemented, Demokratizatsiya(low level democratic elections within the Party) were seen as overall *good* reforms they proved the have fatal non-intended consequences for the USSR, its eventually dissolution. Pellaeon's reforms while often touched on but never fully flushed out would give new life to the Empire, as seen in the survival of the Empire in the Yuuzhan Vong War and its evolution into a *relatively* benign Fel Empire in the Expanded Universe or as a resurgent, brutal, reactionary state as seen in First Order from the Canon-verse.

I agree with Eck on the failures of HR. It's made worse by the Comics being relevant to the plots in the books, not to mention the junior reader books, YA books, and Manga books. The Drengir are also super prevalent in the phase 1 HR comics. Phase 1 of the Marvel HR books are super, and IMO better than the YA books overall. TBH, HR kinda sucks without the comics as a companion.

Even after defending the Jedi and becoming emperor, Palpatine's war keeps the galaxy too fractured to fight against him. Palpatine probably just let the Separatist win battlesasa control opposition just to keep the blood flowing to mask his evil plans long enough to find a way of dominating it all, not with tricks but with unlimited power. Honestly, if he just didn't make the Death Star (twice), he would have kept the forever wars going. He was just too greedy.

They made the prequels for children. Had they done a proper warfare film, it would probably rank up with Empire Strikes Back. I would have enjoyed seeing that brutality. One day, a reboot.

Even the 3 prequels were completely different to what we got in the end. Yes, Lucas wrote the whole story in the 70's, no, it was not the prequel stories we got. Those were written in the 90's. Besides, the Clone Wars should have remained a myth. Not evetything needs to be explained

Dark Empire sucks and im tired of pretending it doesn't. Its a weird comic where the empire is comedically overpowered and shallow and it comes on the butt end of the thrawn trilogy of books which are some of my favourite legends books.

Which generally seem in respect of membership needs, consisting of worlds on the two main economic hyperspace routes, colony worlds of other core founders or as the seats of territory of former imperial states that existed prior to the republic's formation.

i can understand the impulse of mom mothma and others to focus on rebuilding rather than diging out the last few imperual ticks. but not pushing their advantage now only allowed the remints to consolidate, dig in and wait for thawn, the reborn emperor and other pretenders to the thrown which ultarmatly left the new republic weaker in the long run

Remember when Luke aged 16 years between 3 and 4 but Ben and Anakin aged 80 years? ("surely he must be dead by now") 3 was in the Midichlorian univese, 4 wasn't.

Although I had recalled the mention of the Clone Wars in "A New Hope", I never read those novels and I really had no idea whether or not Lucas would feature them in the Prequel movies. So . . . que sera sera.

I could see another problem, and that is tactical/logistics: The CIS forces relied almost exclusively on huge numbers of combat droids, which in turn relied on large factory sites. Fixed positions like this, with the necessary shipping to support them, are very easy to target and destroy if you have a big enough fleet. Likewise, their ships tended to be large, slow, and with a 'set-piece'/siege design criteria in mind, not the kinds of small, fast ships the Correlians and Mon Cal brought. Using CIS military doctrine would have given up most of the covert/guerilla nature the Rebellion needed to survive in the early years.

I think having a good amount of order 66 survivors is fine but I like how most die or are mia by the end of the empire. It helps give Vader and the inquisitors more credit for killing most of the survivors of order 66

I really don't like how in both the old Eu & the Disney "canon" the government founded by Rebels after the death of palpatine is called the *NEW* Republic I thought the whole point of the alliance to restore the REPUBLIC was to do just that Restore the REPUBLIC?, not create a entirely new government I have alot of other problems with the *NEW* Republic in both continuities but I won't get into that here
