Three Accidents in One Life - CN 2415 (Mini Documentary)

Three accidents in one service life is not something that usually happens, with some exceptions. One of those exceptions comes from the fleet of locomotives the channel is known for. This is the story of CN 2415, how it managed to survive three accidents is beyond anyone's understanding.
So we have the second video for Halloween, with the story of a locomotive that survived three accidents and lived until its service life ended. This is a locomotive I've been wanting to talk about for a while, so I hope y'all enjoy. We'll be getting into the Halloween stories next week, with the next installment so see y'all there.

2415 is currently at LTEX in Ohio in a line with lots of other engines, all awaiting to be scrapped. While it’s not gone yet, it basically has zero chance of being saved

Let's hope one of its sisters will get preserved, I think there's still a few left in storage so hopefully a museum will aquire one and at least restore it on the outside and put it on display as they are unique as the were the last cowl freight locomotives ever designed in North America.

This is why I believe all locomotives deserve to be saved no matter how modern or common they are. Cause it was with that same mentality is why we no longer have a single surviving Hudson, Niagara, PRR J1, WM Potomac or Hiawatha locomotive.

2415 is not the only locomotive to have three accident A swedish steam locomotive, SJ class F No. 1200, also suffered 3 accidents

One of those being the 1918 getå rail disaster, in which 42(47 if you count 5 people missing) lost their lives. It was also hit in an air raid in Denmark in 1943. SJ F class 4-6-2 no.1200 is still alive, on display at the swedish railway museum. As of right now she is over 100 years old

I saw 2415 go to storage in Centralia IL and then leave for LTEX I'm surprised that thing wasn't scrapped with the damage it received the times it did derail excellent video

To my knowledge, she's still sitting there, waiting to be scrapped. It's definitely sad to see her just sitting there. It's only one of 3 C40-8M's i've ever seen. CN 2415, CN 2454 and BCOL 4612

Holy Crap! I've seen this locomotive back in 2021 going through my area on the Leighton sub. I caught it on my way to a boy scout meeting. I've heard that it's been involved in accidents. Never knew it was involved in three accidents. RIP 2415 you will be missed.!

This is the 91 023 of Canada, built in the 90s, had a few accidents then scrapped

Was lucky to see one of these locomotives coming back from Ottawa. Never got the number but it had that distinctive front and shape to it. Of course it had to be iPod touch 5 in 2014 quality, but I’m happy I took it nevertheless and it’s something I always like to come back to.

May I make a suggestion? when filming scenes that take place in the 70s, don't used a lot time filter that would be used in the 1900s to early 1960s, instead used the 35mm film filter uses at 0:51 and for the 80s, 90s and maybe 2000s used a vhs filter (battington the guy who made those fnaf vhs videos has some good tips for vhs filters, hope you won't get fnaf videos recommend tho)

I think UP SD70M 3780 was involved in 3 train collisions throughout its career. Involved in rear-end collision in Sewickley PA in 2014 Sideswipe collision in Mankato MN in 2014 Head-on collision in Granger WY in 2016 Thankfully there were no fatalities in any of these accidents

That picture you showed did happen in 96 , 20 runaway grain cars hit a intermodel train coming into edson yard , cn 9627 , 9575 derstroyed , and 9508 repaired

As of today only one C40-8M is in active service in the world. That would be BCOL 4609, which is in use as a yard switcher in British Colombia. Other than that engine, all other CN C40-8Ms are in storage or have been scrapped except for BCOL 4618 which was recently sold to a museum.

CN #2415 had horrible luck. The unlucky C40-8M. She had 3 crashes and somehow survived until the 2020s. Geez i feel bad for CN #2415. She would be scrapped after CN had enough of #2415 and her crashes. :(
