I went into this just assuming I was going to like the Vintage 30 the best...call me crazy, but I think I like the F30 on all three. Shockingly crisp sound when you put them all side by side.

Yeah, I kinda bought that one blind, not knowing what to expect, but it's worked out GREAT on the tracks I've used it on so far!

You should try the Celestion V-Type sometime, it's a super underrated speaker. It has a nice growl for drive tones, and still stays chimey when you play clean Edited to say, your production quality is amazing for such a small channel

I like that first riff, V30's for me or (2) V30 and (2)G12T-75 which is what I currently use and my son has an all V30 4x12

Yeah, I'm a big fan of putting 2 different speakers in a cab. Twice as many sound options that way! I bet that v30/g12t75 combo sounds great!

💯 GB was scooped and muffled, lost in the mix, CB was really fizzy on top. I can't believe I liked the V30 more than both. F30 had brighter top end without getting fizzy, would be a great pairing with V30.

Interesting, I have all 3 speakers in 3 different amps. None of them sound muffled or fizzy here. Might be his set up though (eq, pedals, pickups, etc). So, it's just Interesting. I think Creamback sounds most smooth, at least in my experience. This video was first time I heard these speakers sound muffled or fizzy...

Can you put one of each in a 4x12 and give me some of that action. I'm about to build a cab and I was thinking about doing a mixed setup with more bass end on the bottom and more treble up top.

Problem is that I don't stick to one speaker only ....I'm not that loyal ..so that I change at discretion on the one that fits better to my ears in a particular context. Thus I wouldn't discard any one of the solutions you proposed 🙂

Oh absolutely! I use all 4 of these (plus a handful more) all the time, mixing and matching for different parts of the song. That's the fun of it!

WGS Retro 30 WGS Veteran 30 Eminence DV-77

@BetterMixes The Retro 30 is probably a V30 with more bass/low mids and Reapers have a tad less presence and vet 30's have a lower midrange bump. As far as DV-77's, i don't know. I got Retro 30's and Reapers in my 4X12 and i wouldn't sell it even for $1000.

@BetterMixes If you want bite but also good low end, Retro 30. DV-77's are rolled off highs i heard. Reapers are in the middle.

Strummed power chords, the Vintage 30 killed them (both in the mix and outside). Pop punk clean tones, harder to distinguish, but the 30 still won. To my ears, the low end response of the V30 is balanced and sweet both clean or overdriven. Now, matching speakers to the amp is absolutely critical. Darker amps + brighter speakers = the crispier speakers here might fit perfectly. No comparison - if we are comparing them with your Orange amp, the Vintage 30 crushes the others..

You're absolutely right about matching it to the amp (AND the song/part). And in a real world scenario, you'd dial in the EQ differently for the different speakers. But yeah, the vintage 30 is pretty much always a solid option!
