Bandit's Oliver 1850 and White Plow
Craig's AC D19 and AC plow
My Case 730 and Bandit's Oliver three bottom.
I had never plowed before that day. There's nothing worse than tilling after a bad plow job, so now I know be over powered for a small plow. Once we got going, it wasn't bad. The whole point of starting in the low spot was to fill it in. I think the construction of the building next door did us dirty because any dirt excavated was dumped on that field and not leveled out well. And that was 15+ years ago.

Glad you finally got to moldboard plow! I don’t do it too often but it sure is a nice change of pace from the chisel plow. As of writing this I had to stop cutting hay right after opening up a field because the bushing wore out where the wobble box meets the sickle bar. Gotta scramble to get parts in the morning, hope you have better luck with your hay season!

Nice job guys 👍That poor 1850 has gotta be pulling its guts out, sheesh. I ran the disk over the sod I plowed, mainly to bust up the hay from I feeding bales, it plowed the best I've ever managed. The patch I have left has some small pines in it, those will get buried.

One thing to remember is this ground hasnt been turned sense about 1982 or 83 so its hard and full of cut off brush and tree roots. It was a bit wet to plow but you got to do what you got to do to get the job done. I had the choice of using a 5x16" plow or the 6x14" witch is only 4 inches wider than the 5x16" and being smaller bottoms makes it easer to pull. The 1850 is rated a 5 or 6 bottom plow tractor so she is just doing the job she was mint to do, I was running 4th direct about 1900 rpms and she was running good ! Bandit

Up here Bandit when you get above a 4 botton usually then are c 16 or 18 inch bottoms, I shoulda guessed maybe you were pulling 14s.

@@burrridgefarms I bought an AC 4x20" plow in really good shape cheap , I found out why as it made our old 1850 roll coal in 2nd gear under to pull it ! Hooked the 5x16"s back to the 1850 and I was in 5th under and never had any smoke ! That old saying is true, The bigger the bottom the harder they pull ! 6x14's is only 4 inches wider than 5x16's and they pull just as easy. Bandit

Always loved the color and look of old case look realy good with nice paint your tractor is in amazing condition some one took really good care of that tractor we have a 730 where in middle of repaint my dad likes to reapaint all the tractors when we get them but we use the shit out of them they look nice in field though i like cleen old original tractors that run good old 30 series case are varry easy to work on only problem is alot of it you need to use wrenches cant use sockets like it was wrenched together cant use impacts take each bolt off one turn at a time and that kills you on a rebuild taking out 100 bolts

Some of those weeds Looked like wild flowers to me??? You talked about over powered being under-rated. I can tell you don't know allot about Allis cause Craig was the only one there that was over powered 😂 I pull pretty much the same plow with a d 17 through tough red clay ground that never really dries up. The old budda was barely breaking a sweat there. I've got some ground that I can't pull 6 16s with my 7060, 180 hp or so and 16000 lbs. That makes that ground look like your plowing a garden lol I'd love to see bandit drop in there lol. Great video, even though I plow 150 acres a year and have a plow day footage like this never gets old. You had your right lift arm to short on the case it was leaning to the left a little, that the only reason you weren't turning over quite like the other 2.also why it wanted to pull you into the furrow.

That must be 6 14" bottoms (which I didn't know were around). I pull 5 16's I think it is with our jd 6030 and he flies through our heavier soil pretty well; mostly old alfalfa field though. Would think the jd 6030 has more pull than that oliver. I just keep the duals on which probably isn't correct, but its a bear to get some old duals off.

Plow enough sod and your liable to brake anything on a plow ! Last time this ground was plowed or worked up was the early 80's and after that there were times it grew up in brush and was bush hogged down so there was a lot of roots out there plus how much clay was put on that field when that building was built ? That ground was wet to say the least but I'm glad it was or as hard as it was if it was dry I doubt the plows would have gone in the ground. But we got it done. Bandit
