We had done some research on what to see and how to spend three days in Sarajevo before taking off, but probably similarly to you we felt like we didn't know much about the city. Once we were there we just had the very best time. The people of Sarajevo are such kind souls, made us feel welcome, and told us some incredible stories! 🥰

Hello Tia! How exciting, I am sure you will have the best the very best time in Sarajevo. With regards to where to exchange money, what we did was withdraw a very small amount in the airport to pay for the bus to the city (cash only), and then take all the other money out in the city centre. As of whether it is best to exchange cash or withdraw money, the answer is you will always have a better rate withdrawing at an ATM. Unfortunately, even with specially travel credit cards, ATMs in Bosnia charge a fee for withdrawals (about £4) for International account holders, hence our suggestion is to do a few big withdrawals rather than many small ones (so you pay the fee once and maximise the amount you take out). As for where to stay, Sarajevo city centre is relatively flat, but it goes uphill as soon as you leave the centre. If I were to give you the edges to delimit this flat and very lovely area, this would be: to the west of the city is the newer area, with shopping malls, newer hotels and shopping malls (see on Google Maps the area around "SCC - Sarajevo City Center"); to the east, Sarajevo City Hall. Anything more south or north would have hills, anything more east or west would be too far to walk with a pushchair. Hope this comes handy and have a great holiday ☺️

If you wish for a good chat and the very best food in Sarajevo I would advise to have a meal at a restaurant called ‘Konoba Fakat’ in the very centre of the historical bit! The owner Lejla is the kindest souls and loves a good chat! If you get a chance, tell her Lewis and Ed say hi, and that we are still full from the delicious dinner 🥹

We met some amazing people while in Sarajevo! Among these, Lejla was the kindest restaurant owner, and she shared with us how she decided to leave the corporate world to open and look after her little restaurant. Another lovely lady, Alina, offered to pay for some of our bakery as we realised after ordering we had the wrong change. Over the course of the few days we were there, we have felt so welcome and we think people in Bosnia are among the loveliest ☺️
