All episodes: • Three Days in the Life...
Platoon commander Lt. Kravtsov reports for active duty. Military ‘fate’ allocates for such lieutenants only three days of life, on average. During this time, Kravtsov should become the commander of his troops and lead them in a hopeless attack, to save the regiment coming to the rescue. The question is, can he survive in these three days? It all seems so unfair - to die at the age of eighteen…..

Having served in an rifle platoon, USA Army, I get it. Not everyone understand combat soldiers sense of humor. I know about new lieutenants and old timers. The cat was a good touch. Soldiers develop a relationship with animals. Reminds them of better times. Good for moral. Overall nice job. Soldiers are them same no matter which side they are on. Thanks Star Media.

Johnny: Thank you for your recommendation. It's terse , well said and convincing. Glad to learn that the movie rings true to a military sensibility. I was one of the lucky ones who was not drafted to Viet Nam. Graduating high school in 67, perhaps a third of the males in my class of about 200, was in Viet Nam by the fall. One died there, another lost a foot. I have many friends of many years who served there. I know that I do not know what they know. Thanks again for you nice useful comment.

+Purple burd They do such a good job. I got tired of and stopped watching my own nation's TV serials long ago with only token exception. What was that series? 24 Hours? Way back there. Its message-is-the-media was torture is okay. When that started I was quitting TV watching. I'm an internationalist generally and into Russian and other cinema anyway all the way back to the silent stuff. This Star Media Russian series story telling encompasses much depth and human relations in the story telling. I've seen best practice interpersonal relations, socially positive morality, the complexity of deviance, and a fine character portrayal of the selective sociopathy that makes family a person's elite over all other people (A very anti-social phenomenon) in just finished "Spies Must Die". One of those mini-series made me just about cry at the end. Oy! Here come the suffering Russians? We all suffer, the Russians may just not deny it as much as some. It was the best of times. It was the worst of times.

The cost of a 150mm SprGr.(JA Gr.) Shell during 42', which was the equivalent of soviet OF-530 152mm shell was in contrast 17 times higher (in Reichsmarks) than the value of soviet slaves (cant really mark them as PoW, they didnt sign Geneva). Just saying, after observing those barrages on two soviet personas... :)

There is the phrase "Deaf Dumb and Blind". Which means to the commoner, that they don't see, hear, or say shit. Dumb, means mute. It is often combined in the manner of "Deaf Mute"; which means, deaf and dumb.

And the Commissar in these films is often a pervy, rapey, creep. That said, reading the writings of soldiers like Pavlichenko, Shanina, and others, they were also dependable, supportive of their soldiers, responsible, and level-headed. So like other officers, not always bastards.
