In retrospect, I really like the ending. Knowing the world-hopping shenanigans Akuma gets up to in the following years, it feels like some fun foreshadowing from the Capcom devs.

I definitely remember Akuma being the most used MvC2 Shoto back in the day by a wide margin. and 98% of that was because of the Tatsu assist. Speaking of the Tatsu, in vanilla MvC3 Akuma had a one move infinite on Sentinel with it. Just jump up, Tatsu, land, Tatsu, rinse and repeat.

Really? Ken was the most used around here because of a) invincble DP assist that stretched to the top of the screen and b) air combo to air Tatsu was a braindead easy 40-50% meter-less damage.

@@ShinUltima From what I remember, hardly anybody used Ken at the arcade I used to go to. Akuma was common because the Tatsu comboed into whatever the hell you want, whether it was Akuma's air fireball super or an Air Hyper Viper Beam, which is what it was 90% of the time. The four gods were omnipresent, as you'd expect, but I saw so many teams built just to gain meter for and combo into Air Hyper Vipers it was ridiculous.

I was a little surprised Akuma lost his Messatsu Gou Rasen in MvC3. It’s also sucked to see they didn’t bring over come of his Capcom vs SNK Shin Akuma moves into MvC3. Like that game had a cool Akuma, and that Shin Akuma could’ve been dropped pretty nicely into that kind of Hyper fighter style of game. Also a big missed opportunity to not give him a Dark Phoenix Shin Akuma activation phase upon being beat. Like, Shin Akuma’s whole thing is that’s Akuma fighting at his full power against a worthy opponent, so (in a game where Dark Phoenix is a thing) it would’ve been cool if he had a Level 5 where he gets back up saying something like “worthy” and was in Shin Akuma mode; he could’ve even just jump away if his health ran down from time. It’s crazy they left Akuma out of Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite given the model and most (could’ve been all if they kept the same button layout) of his moves were already finished.

It’s insane that Capcom still has not made some Marvel vs Capcom style tag team hyper fighting, fighting games with just their own Capcom characters. I mean it would be just so low effort for them to do too. Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 has 25 completely finished characters that they could just reuse for a Capcom Hyper Fighter game. There’s 8 more Capcom characters in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom they have finished animations for; they couldn’t reuse those models, but they can still reuse those animations. And then Infinite has 4 characters that are also completely finished. They could take all those finished characters they’ve already got, make new models for that TvC Capcom characters, and add like 12 to 15 new characters into the mix and they’d have themselves a nice little all Capcom fighting game that cost practically nothing to make. They wouldn’t even need to go crazy with the models either like they did with Street Fighter 6; just make the game cel shaded and the models would look perfectly fine (even good) if they were still the same quality as MvC3 from 2011.
